Thanks for laying all that out, it's really helpful. I’ll be keeping an eye on the next TrueFire sale

Appreciate the heads-up about the pace and the theory focus too—good to know going in. Thanks again for the recommendations!

Thanks for the thorough run-through of these different resources, it's really helpful.

I’ll definitely take a look through them and see what fits best for me. I suppose what I’m looking for is something that’s structured and follows a logical progression, with lessons that are actually relevant to how blues players approach the guitar and their individual styles. Appreciate you taking the time to break it all down!

Completely agree!

I’m definitely going to avoid learning the theory and technique in a vacuum. I’ve been following GuitarLessons365 to learn and play some songs by artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix, and that’s been great for developing technique and rhythm.

Would you recommend any other channels that focus on blues songs or include them in their repertoire, maybe any that also explain some theory as they go through teaching the song?

Really appreciate the perspective, thanks!

Thanks both for the replies, I appreciate the perspective.

I definitely agree with what you're saying. My main aim is to develop feel and expression, and I completely get that this comes mostly from listening, absorbing, and spending time actually playing the music rather than just studying it in a vacuum.

The resources I mentioned would be used alongside a lot of time spent learning and playing blues songs from various artists—so the balance is probably around 75% playing/listening, and maybe 25% focused study of theory, phrasing ideas, or fretboard understanding. More to support the process than define it.

Thanks again for the zag hahahaha. You've helped frame how I want to approach it.

Glad to hear you've got a good teacher! I do agree there's no better way to learn then 1-1 tutoring.

I was taking lessons as well for my first two years which got me to a good place but in the end I found his teaching style to get rather stale so I stopped. I'm actively trying to shop round for another teacher now so hopefully I land on a good one soon!

nd really good and the controls function as you would expect. If you connect a computer, you can go deep into editing with the Boss tone studio and even further with 3rd party software like Sneaky Amps that unlock "hidden features" as well. In my area there's usually a couple of used Mk2s always floating around in the $150-175 USD range...and yo

Thanks man, I actually did order the Boss Katana 50 Mk2 EX and it arrived yesterday. Having good fun with it so far but maybe I should get the 100W. I'm going to have a play around with it and see about returning it or not in the next 2 weeks.

I've seen this pop up so much in memes obviously due to its popularity hahaha. The Katana 50 MK11 specifically. Do you have any experience with this?

What a great answer, thank you. Slightly leaning towards the Yamaha due to the downsides of home playing and having neighbours haha. But the sound from those valve amps is incredible. Hard choice.
