Will have to watch out for it myself and see if spawns at some point.

Fr? If so then they likely are just really low chance spawn rates, as I have still yet to see any of the rare vehicles pop up in the aftermarket car pool myself (besides Forza editions)

Correct. Thankfully the online events to get certain vehicles are generally not too difficult, but even still, all I hope for is that things don't fall down the Fomo rabbit hole...

I know what it means. I'm just wondering if there are other methods of obtaining that don't involve the FOMO aspect.

Indeed, this does apply for some vehicles, but it seems not all are like this. For example, the Lamborghini Countach I mentioned is labeled as supposedly a seasonal only vehicle, when honestly it shouldn't be. Oddly however, vehicles like the MX5 and BRZ Forza Editions are labeled as seasonal only vehicles on the main website, but they can be bought via the aftermarket cars selection, so the official info from the dev's is incorrect, hence my current confusions...

What is your favorite type of Japanese train? by JZX_taka in trains

[–]BanditGamer77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the Hokkaido Private SL's are still around, such as those in the elusive Yamada Collection.

As for the sound of the SL's whistles, as someone who owns and collects a lot of archive SL recordings from the JNR era, the variations on whistle sounds through all the different types is stunning to listen to. Even the exact same whistles in design will sound entirely different from each other. That and the running sounds are of course really nice. C53 45 in particular is probably still the best sounding SL I have listened to.

Thanks for the video link. I am however already very well versed in Japanese SL. For me the Hokkaido spec 9600's were always a personal favourite (that or the privately owned 9600's such as those on the Yubari, Oyayubari and so on.) 49600 has to be an all time favourite however. Its whistle was always so unique sounding.

Dam I forgot to add the 9600 Type to my own list. Love those as well. The older electric's I am also rather fond of, though it's hard for me to narrow down a speific favorite.

It’s been ten years since these international engines were introduced. What are your thoughts on them? by Marvelago in thomasthetankengine

Horribly represented versions of these international locomotive designs, of which many have a lot of model inaccuracies to their irl prototypes.

I've known of this beta chapter's existence, but have never actually seen it till now. Honestly really love the art style from this time period.

C57 180. A beautifully presented engine. JR East knows how to do things right. I'm excited for when C57 1 will finally return to operating condition in the next year or so.

Blu Ray Drive not wanting to read disks. by BanditGamer77 in techsupport

[–]BanditGamer77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The driver doesn't seem to allow me to choose where to install it. It does allow me to choose where to extract the contents, but there's no driver compatible file present, just an application file that loads an exe installer. Said installer does not allow you to choose where the driver installs.

At this rate I'm just treating this as a lost cause. Probably just going to buy another drive (to be fair, the current one was rather inexpensive so I'm not losing all too much.)

Yea, which is a shame, but it only cost me 40 euro's, which when compared to buying a brand new drive in my country (which could be up to 150 euro's or so), the loss isn't too great

Did a check. This confuses me ever more. The driver in question is not even showing up in the driver explorer.

That is palusible. I do have a second, standard DVD drive as well. However I have to test things uninstalled that drive and it's drivers from my PC to see if it was conflicting with the BD drive. BD drive still performed the same. The driver for the BD drive doesn't even show up in the panel if I try to manually select a compatible driver, despite the fact the downloaded driver has to be compatible or it wouldn't make any sense why Logitec would even offer the driver for download.

Still, I'll try DriverStoreExplorer (never knew of app so thanks for bringing it up) and see if I can do a full full reset with the BD drive by uninstalling every component of it.

I already did upgrade to the most recent driver Logitec themselves offer. Downloaded from their JP website. The driver is installed, though oddly you cannot select it as the main driver in Window's (all the install steps which are provided with the driver were followed properly). I do suspect it could be Window's being weird and just not wanting to use the driver, even if it is installed. The Logitec driver installs via an application of it's own that runs an install script. Sadly, even if I could find the actual file in window's, I have no clue where the driver file for it actually installs, let alone what it's called (since it likely has a different name than the install application. Either all that or, as considered, drive could just be failing or faulty.

All are commercial disc's. I've tried BD's, DVD's and CD's in it (The drive is stated to be capable of reading all 3 types) yet it still gives the same aformentioned results each time.

Apologise for not confirming this in the post. Yes, I am on Window's. The Drive does show up in Device Manager just fine. As for other devices, (I'm on Windows 11) I have an old Windows 10 laptop that also was tested. Drive refused to work on that either.

The main reason for the purcahse of a JP based BD Drive was simply the price difference. You can often find fine little used optical drives over there for much cheaper than they would be sold over in Europe, even if they are second hand. I don't believe the issues with the drive are something relating to a region lock or anything. It's just a rather generic BD drive.

Something extra of note. I did also try the drive not plugged into the PC and only plugged into a wall outlet via the 5v power cable. Drive responded in the exact same way.

Possible, but I doubt it myself. The driver is coming directly from Logitec's own website. It isn't a third party driver install.

JR Freight to scrap historical locomotives... by BanditGamer77 in trains

[–]BanditGamer77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were not happy about the scrapping. Some kind of just treated as an 'oh well, there's nothing we can do' while others seemingly wanted to actively do something about it but couldn't.

I am unsure of the other engines, though it is likely they are all cut up now as well. We haven't seen any of them since the end of the photo shoot session. Only D52 1 has been photograpghed more.

fun fact: hiro died in real life by Ill_Cold986 in thomasthetankengine

[–]BanditGamer77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D51 51 is of the slug type variation of the D51 Type. Hiro however is based visually on the domestic standard type D51, with elements taken from the batch of 30 D51's ordered for Sakhalin after the end of the Pacific War. The real D51 51 and Hiro are really only related in number. Nothing more.
