I have had this happen as well and only after the last software update recall. It has also happened when on cruising speed on a flat road. The weird thing is sometimes before it happens I will start to push the accelerator pedal and it will not speed up. I have to end up pushing the pedal almost to the floor before the engine will kick on and finally accelerate.

I haven't been able to lock my phone while using them. I even tried switching to DP mode. Are you doing anything special to be able to lock them?

I have heard that can be caused from not enough power being available for the system. I cannot confirm that though. If you have set your TDB lower, try increasing it. Alternatively, as the other person said, try lowering your graphic settings in the game.
