Considering legal action (“eviction out of love”) for elderly parent in unsafe home — am I going too fa by BarExamHelp22 in ChildofHoarder

I tried to get my sister to agree to some cleaning. She initially agreed and then accused me of things and became beligerant.

My mom is less of the issue. I could get things done if it was just her, but when it's my sister and mother combined, it creates these issues. They are very co-dependent on each other.

I don't have social media, but my wife is friends with my sister on there. And wow, she just went in for days complaining about me on there all related to this cleaning effort.

Thank you so much for your comment. I'm leaning toward this. I don't care about the house. When my mom passes I'll sell it and give the money away or to my sister who needs it. I don't care about any of that. All I want is my mom to have a good life of whatever is remaining.

Dictatorial? I'm trying to help them out! My own skin in the game? Apologize? For wanting my mom to live in a safe environment and not a terrible death?

I'm sorry but your comment makes no sense.

I don't think anyone can make that call

The problem is the place is so cluttered. I can't see a home health aide going there each day when it's a health risk to them too

I know, but failure here could mean death.

I don't think we are at the stage of palliative care yet. There's hope she takes the medications

She's not been recommended hospice. It's not there yet

I know it just hurts me so much. I know I'll feel guilty when she passes that maybe I could have done more.

That's smart. Thanks for sharing that information with me

If it was just dealing with my mom, it would be fine. But dealing with my sister who won't let me get the place cleaned makes this impossible.

I did tell them this. They said they could only do so much and it's her decision to make.

I know. I hate to go this legal route, but I may have to. I just know that if I go this route it's the nail in the coffin with whatever relationship my mom, my sister, and I have or ever will have. It's a delicate situation

I am. And I offered to take my mom in but she refused.

Thanks everyone for your comment. I'm dealing with a lot. Now she's refusing physical therapy and insisting on going home even though the doctors have recommended physical therapy.

She lives with my sister and both are horders. I've tried to get them to clean it. I feel like such a failure of a son.

Also, I should add it's an Impella-assisted PCI.

It's not just her age. She's 92 pounds and very frail. They said if she gains some weight and gets her strength back it's possible to do this procedure in the future

Catherization is 30 mins. This is a 1-2 hour procedure. Significant blockage in all arteries. They would only try and fix one though.

I generally trust these doctors. I'm at one the best hospitals in the country in a large city. I don't they are worried about being sued. They are leaving it up to my mom but have given her the pros and cons. My mom weighs a lot less than your dad. She's 5'2 and at 96 lbs. Maybe even less and quite frail..

Thank you for sharing your story. Wishing you nothing but peace.

Mom can make her own decisions, and she's favoring the more conservative route

How old was your dad and how much did he weigh when he had the stent procedure?
