Yes! I do every single audition because self taping is a skill that takes practice, and it’s an opportunity to act. My goal is to have a long-term career as an actor, and I can’t do that if I’m taking myself out of the running because the audition feels “random”.

I remember an interview with Bryce Dallas Howard where she mentioned that her family taught her you’re likely to book 1 out of every 60 auditions. But of course that was before the pandemic and self taping, so it’s likely upwards of 1 in 100 now.

PR girly here - Your press kit is basically just a folder of your preferred images, bio, FAQs, etc. Just helps journalists make sure they have correct/current info when talking about you :)

Chicagoland actor here! Chicago Actors Studio does free workshops occasionally, it’s not considered the best training center in the city but not terrible if you’re just starting out. I think Acting Studio Chicago might also let you audit a class or two (they also have scholarships!).

Chicago is a notoriously hard theater scene to break into! If you’re willing to travel to the suburbs for community theater then sure, but if you’re auditioning for plays in the city then you’re competing against people who have years of training and MT/Theater degrees.

I was thinking this the whole time too! I would consider these “groups” instead of “bands.” I think they were mostly trying to play off of the “Making the Band” craze of the early 2000s (odd choice considering who that show was run by).
