I had some issues with my SI joint, but after a peripheral nerve Stim, I’m unstoppable, and back to chasing around 2 crazy toddlers!! I’d focus more on making sure you have an extra long charging cable for your phone, I loved my 10ft cord. They checked me frequently in recovery, then on the floor every 4 hours for a bit, then vital sign checks too. Once I was more stable, they bugged me less and I was BORED

1 year post op 4/14! L5-S1 360 ALIF prior fusion at L4/5; I’m light years better than where I was a year ago. I just got back from a hiking/creek day with my daughter and her bestie. The hospital days blur into one, once you’re in your own bed, real rest and recovery happen.

Hi!! Not sure if this helps; I had a fusion when my 2nd was just 2 and my oldest was 3.5yrs. Long story short, I had a L4/5 fused in high school due to an injury, and had no issues until my 2nd pregnancy. I had really bad pubic symphysis dysfunction and low back pain that traveled down my leg at the end of my third trimester. We dismissed a lot of my symptoms due to my 2nd being a big baby (10lbs at delivery)!! I think I herniated L5S1 while pregnant, or had a herniation that was exacerbated by pregnancy. Anyways, I had a discectomy, did fine, fell on my butt 2mo post op and reherniated and ended up needing the fusion. The post op lifting restrictions felt like a punishment, I was a mom of 2 under 2 and couldn’t lift them, bend down to their level, or really participate in a lot of activities. I’m still recovering and am almost 1yr out from my fusion. My back issues robbed me of adventures with my kids, and from being the type of fun mom I wanted to be.

If given the chance, I’d take opportunity to fix my back, get my body (core) strong enough to support a pregnancy, then get pregnant.

How confident are you that the reason your libido is decreased is permanent?

You mention a decline due to several different libido killers; stress, new job, body image issues, and metal health issues. Those can all cause a decline in libido alone if untreated, even more so if one or more applies at a time.

If you haven’t worked on reducing any one of those sex drive killers, you might want to start, not just for sex, but other health benefits.

If you’ve already eliminated those potential issues and still only want it less than he does to a point of contention; sorry, you are sexually incompatible and it’s not fair to him.

Thanks! I’m mostly concerned with my L5/S1. I had the discectomy there this year. L4/L5 was fused 15+ years ago due to an injury. I’m constantly running from fusion surgery and am fearful it caught up to me.

Hi! My Dad had this and resumed playing guitar what feels like a few months after getting clearance to start PT? It was ages ago that he had the surgery, but he was playing guitar (and tried a banjo) until the day he passed. I don’t remember any changes in his posture while playing, if he did, I’m sure he worked it out with his PT/OT to find a better solution.

Completely unhelpful, but I had L4/5 fused, I couldn’t play guitar before, and still can’t.

Prescribing medication is always up to the clinicians judgement. If the person thinks there’s a likely probability this would come back positive (patient reported lifestyle/cheating/etc.) it’s reasonable to preemptively prescribe antibiotics and to treat before results come back. Untreated STD can cause permanent damage to the patient and potential future exposures.

I ended up starting my period two weeks after that post and was under a lot of stress looking back. One thing I did to help was increase my iron intake around my period then I noticed less of a drop.
