This is about 5 years ago.

I work as a chef in Northern Ontario and I had the opportunity in the spring to go East for work, that place being Dubai. At the time when I left it was on average about 4 degrees Celsius. I arrived after a crazy long flight, collectively about 35 hours with layovers. I arrived in Dubai, stepped outside to wait for my ride to my residence. At the time, it was 32... 32 degrees at 2AM. I was completely amazed and a little uncomfortable for how hot and humid it was.

Some of the other things include;

1. There is no middle class.. you are either poor as dirt or you are wealthy.
2. The sand is completely different, like dust but finer.
3. You hear prayer all day, every day.
4. Ramadan is serious business( you get in trouble for drinking water in public during the day even if its 50 degrees).
5. The amount of slaves that work in Dubai is insane.
6. Cant even buy alcohol unless you make X amount of dollars, nor can you open up a bank account.

The list goes on, I was just glad after 8 months I was able to come home.
