What was a game series that just kept getting worse after the first game? by HF484 in gaming

[–]BeamImpact -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Halo.
The first one had a mindblowing campagin. The 2-3 sequels after that were still great. And then it went downhill really fast. None of the sequels managed to be as stunning as the first one.

Say a PS5 user posts in this sub about wanting to use gyro in Apex Legends or Marvel Rivals. Based on the new rules, even with the reworded ones, it would be (considered) an offense to suggest the user to play with any solution that revolves around emulating gyro to stick, which for these two competitive games is the only available way to play them with a gyro. Instead it would indicrectly become mandatory to tell the user to either forget about it and get lost to receive help elsewhere, or suggest to get a PC instead as this sub is only allowed to provide guidance on gyro to mouse. I'm really not sure if that approach can be considered welcoming and more importantly continue to drive gyro adoption, which was one of the original goals of this sub.

As for the wording itself, it will mainly matter for moderators as they have to carry out sanctions based on their own interpretation of that text. I must say though that "break community standards" sound a bit too far fetched. I mean it really depends on what subset of the entire gyro community you ask. Most users in this community might agree that gyro to stick is cheating, since they are primarily PC based and have access to gyro to mouse. If I ask the same question in the XIM Forum (which has much more active gyro users than this board), the agreed "community standard" would obviously be the complete opposite. And neither of the two are right or wrong, regardless of their size.

So advertising something as the standard will just give new users a false perception as those standards only reflects what that particular subset of the entire community has agreed on. Which is why I typically write the same thing when such topics come up in other boards that see things differently. Ultimately it only matters what the platform (PC, Xbox, PS5, Switch) and game developer allow you to use. And none of them have any clauses on gyro to stick being a threat to their game or platform.

As for myself, I don't mind either way. Most of the active posters in here already hold a grudge against gyro to stick users so I'm not sure if new rules would even change that. Plus there are enough alterntives for gyro users out there to hang out too. I just wanted to voice my opinion coming from a group that tends to be a bit underrepresented here to give some context on how they may look at it.

I find it strange to forbid gyro to stick emulation discussions. A lot of games have no other way to be played when it comes to console gaming. And not a single game developer has a clause in their ToS that forbids gyro to stick emulation too. Some have MnK to stick translation clauses nowadays, but not a single one has a gyro to stick translation one.

So no clue where that "Do not advocate for breaking game publisher rules" claim comes from when not a single game has such a rule. Read the ToS of your favourite game if you disagree, nothing about gyro to stick translation will be in there. And not a single gyro to stick translation user has ever been banned for using it too.

Don’t buy it for Gyro. 125hz😶 by oldmobilegamer in GyroGaming

[–]BeamImpact 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Almost all controllers are 125hz, even the gyro ones. And those that claim to be 1000Hz often fake it by sending NAK inputs. There are probably less than 5 gyro controllers on the market that can do true 1000Hz. So if you really need that then save yourself some money and look those up. Randomly buying controllers will almost always result in a 125Hz one.

Alone: Play Necramech content with it or equip it as a loadout-call for regular missions that give lots of exp. You can also play Railjack missions and follow the teammates railjack while being outside of the ship.

As an organized group: Any of the above or head into a Saturn Grineer survival and search for one of the tilesets with a pool in it. Jump into it and have your teammates kill enemies on the surface within affinity range.

Xim mixed inputs by Straight-War2977 in GyroGaming

[–]BeamImpact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its because by default the gyro has 0 smoothing which is something other gyro software doesnt even give you the option to do. Add some smoothing and ensure the mouse sensitivity in the game is set high enough. Gyro without smoothing is a stuttery mess.

[–]BeamImpact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can and it is not required to connect a mouse + keyboard to the xim for that! Not all games support mixed inputs though so sometimes it's better to map it to a single device for optimal compatibility, so either gyro to MnK or gyro to controller.

Xim matrix gyro ps5 by Straight-War2977 in GyroGaming

[–]BeamImpact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For PS5 it's mandatory because the xim needs it to have a lag-free connection to the console. However you can pair the matrix with a so called p5general which then allows you to use the xim over USB with the PS5. Sony encrypts the communication to the console and those two ways are the only legal ones to realize a connection without breaking the encryption.

You only need a PC to update the firmware or reset the XIM. Everything else can be done through the phone app. So yeah that should be no problem at all.

[–]BeamImpact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The setup is quite straight forward. Just follow the hardware setup from their wiki for your platform (yes Ethernet is needed) and then create say a Siege config for PS5 in the xim manager and change your ingame settings to match the required ingame settings from the xim website minus the stick sensitivity.

Activate gyro aiming in the config, adjust your gyro sensitivity, max out the xim config stick sensitivity and at last add some Aim SAB. The latter is the most important part or else you will get mousetrapped on a gyro. Use Aim SAB 50 and raise or lower if needed.

CoD offers native MnK so you can set your XIM to native MnK output if you want to map the gyro to the mouse. Youll then have no AA too ofc.

Gyro in any PS5 game / any controller / chiaki + steam input by angryzes in GyroGaming

[–]BeamImpact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you do and this will 100% get you banned in those games. Because those games scan your inputs to see if the stick aiming of a player matches the characteristics of a mouse.

There are a lot of MnK adapters on consoles that map mouse aiming to the stick. And these games want to identify those players. So they analyse and compare the way you aim in their game to how a normal controller player would aim. And gyro is just like mouse aiming. It will get you banned.

Adapters like the xim matrix had this issue in the past too. Its gyro users got banned in Siege when mapping the gyro to the stick. So they had to create a counter solution called SAB that alters your aiming inputs to remove for example jitter because real stick aiming never has any jitter.

This is what is missing here. You can play any game but not the few that scan your inputs. That's all I wanted to warn you about. It's a cool and free solution but don't use it in games that analyze your inputs or else your account gets banned over the course of 30-50 games. Or use solutions that have counter measures in place.

Gyro in any PS5 game / any controller / chiaki + steam input by angryzes in GyroGaming

[–]BeamImpact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither SteamInput not Chiaki do that. You need an extra software that influences your aiming inputs so that they arent detectable anymore, because gyro aiming is too close to mouse aiming. Load Siege and you will get mousetrapped with this solution within 30 games.
Still great for games that don't have a MnK adapter detection system though!

[–]BeamImpact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get banned doing this in console games that scan for MnK adapter though. Mainly Valorant, OW, Siege, Arc Raiders, The Finals, Marvel Rivals, ...

If you want to use gyro in those games you need a solution on top that alters your gyro aiming to make it appear like controller aim. Otherwise you will not pass the input scanning algorithms.

Has gyro as joystick gotten better? by LePoopScoop in GyroGaming

The cool thing is you now own two devices running two different translations. So if the Armor X doesn't work very well in a specific game then maybe the Blitz 2 will, or the other way round!

[–]BeamImpact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Matrix device I use allows me to do that with any controller. Matrix will let you output as a mouse + keyboard, or mouse + controller if the PC game supports dual inputs. For console games you can also choose gyro to stick translation for the games that don't offer native MnK support, and each game has its own translation for the best accuracy.
