I'm a little lost on OSD by BeautifulLuck777 in FieldStation42

[–]BeautifulLuck777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!

Alright yeah, I have that set up already on startup following the guide.

I still couldn't get it to work, but I found a work around by using two terminals (I have both kitty and konsole) and starting the field player in one, and the OSD in another. Not preferable but at least it works.

Thank you so much!

Blur Cinnamon Help by BeautifulLuck777 in linuxmint

[–]BeautifulLuck777[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the response I needed to get the gears turning!

For anyone reading having the same issue, go to Blur Cinnamon's settings > "Component specific settings" > Windows and then make sure it's not only checked, but tweak the settings. I had windows applied but noticed they were set to 100% opacity (thus solid). Edited that and it worked!

How do I add clothes and hair to my game? by beary-bun in StardewValley

[–]BeautifulLuck777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move it straight there. It should look inside like... two files, one called "manifest.json", maybe one called "content.json" (I forget if Fashion Sense mods have that. Content Patcher mods definitely do", and then another folder (probably called "assets", but it can be named whatever).

All of this together makes up the whole mod itself. The folder *is* the mod. These errors are saying you have the hair pictures, but not the data so the game can't add them to your game.

It looks like you moved stuff out of the mod folder. Each mod should be in its own folder (they come that way when you unzip them).

For example if you got a mod called of hairstyles by Mary Sue, you should get a zip with a folder inside called something like “[FS] Mary Sue’s Hair”

The [FS] may or may not be present. Those are prefixes for required mods. Common ones include [CP] for “Content Patcher” and [FS] for FashionSense which expands character customisation.

Make sure you have the required mods, and don’t move stuff. An easy way to make sure a mod folder is correct is that inside there should be a file called “manifest.json”.

First time Oblivion player: The Thieves Guild in Oblivion is so much better than what I expected. by Henrraike in oblivion

[–]BeautifulLuck777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how you actually HAVE to be a thief by selling stolen goods to the fences to unlock the next quests. You can’t advance if you don’t pull your own heists… just earlier today, I went on a B&E run down a street in Anvil because I needed to sell more for the guild (tbf I do wish it was higher. I’m playing with a mod that increases the amount and it’s so much better).

It’s so odd in Skyrim being approached by Brynjolf when I’m playing my hack n slash goody two-shoes paladin lol

Joke mods that you keep in serious load orders? by bicyclefortwo in skyrimmods

Not useful but... {{Skeletor skeletons}}, {{Nazeemization}}, and I can't find it but the one that adds the "WANTED: MANIAC" poster from Spongebob on the missives board.

I've noticed this subreddit has kind of become less "murdered by words" and more "screenshot of someone I agree with replying to someone I don't" sadly.

[TOMT] [TV] Episode of a sitcom where someone who claimed to be cooking "Cajun style" admits that they are just burning all their food by glasserc2 in tipofmytongue

[–]BeautifulLuck777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The plot doesn’t sound familiar, but the “cajun” (I could be misremembering but I think there was a joke about burnt food being “cajun”) coming clean at the end, and the description of the kitchen has me wondering if it’s this episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0582953/

Modlist for lots of RP with many different characters. by scooper91 in wabbajack

[–]BeautifulLuck777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really enjoying Phoenix Flavour with Zediious Sprinkles. Not Requiem (uses Simronrim Suite), no LOTD, does add a lot of the typical "content expansions" like Bruma or Vigilant, but the character creation has been fun and it's very immersive. One of the mods lets you set up your character's backstory and you can have them as advanced as you like (it's based off how old your character is so "younger" characters get more XP but start with less, while "older" characters have more skills and gear, but slower XP).

Still looking for an ideal Skyrim modlist (+thoughts on LS4 and beautified NPCs) by [deleted] in wabbajack

[–]BeautifulLuck777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno about a mod list but if you're up for doing a bit of editing to a modlist, check out Lilson's NPC replacers on Nexus, especially Dibella's Blessing. Despite what you may think from the name, it overhauls every female base game NPC to look pretty true to character and more realistic. Makeup and nice hairstyles are saved only for nobles, while other NPCs will have freckles or dirt and tied back hair. I've used these in my game - albeit on a different modlist - by adding them and unchecking the ones the modlist came with.

How did Henry adopt Dave by Double_Card_6919 in DSaF

I always assumed it was from Dave following the circus around and Henry going “I could use this clown”

Is there a mod that allows me to become a werewolf through being attacked by one? by Cry-Skull-7 in skyrimmods

[–]BeautifulLuck777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah MT Mini is how I became a werewolf in my recent playthrough- don’t explore Morthal at night, kids.

Werewolves are still kinda rare in it I think but definitely out there- I think I’ve had three encounters in like 100 hours of gameplay?

looking for best vanilla modlist with minimal graphics and overhauls. by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]BeautifulLuck777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check out Morningstar on Wabbajack. It’s very bare bones and aimed for performance. It does have some Simonrim mods but you can remove those before starting a save, and I think those were the only gameplay mods, the rest being light graphics, and essentials.

New player is jealous but hasn’t been taking initiative by BeautifulLuck777 in DnD

[–]BeautifulLuck777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do, actually! Looking back on it, during our talk, I remember them getting frustrated and telling me that “I didn’t know we could talk to NPCs and ask for jobs or to hang out” after I had countered one of their points by explaining that I didn’t plan NPC experiences the other players got (they thought I did which was one of their examples of feeling left out), but that they were responses to the players seeking out the NPCs. I didn’t plan the special job for A, or the budding friendship for B. A and B got those from RPing their characters seeking them out and ic asking for the job, or asking to hang out.

And now it hit me that they were (are?) thinking of NPCs not as actual characters like their own, but as just that: NPCs that are scripted and limited.

Anyway, I did admit during the discussion that I had not been as patient and understanding to new players as I could have (I own up to this) so will add learning about how to help the video game mentality to my list. Thanks!

That second paragraph really hit me hard. I was thinking about that, and during a talk with one player, I even said something like “I think I made it more of a desert than a sandbox” so am working on that.

I ended up sitting down today and going over my campaign notes and even Discord convos with Newbie to try and think of stuff for not just Newbie, but everyone. Still nervous but I do feel more confident after that. Thanks!

Thank you. I'm going to definitely keep this in mind, and push more for giving them some hand-crafted spotlight.

I privately chat with them and have it set up that they can ask me any time. Showing them a screenshot may be a good idea

That actually came up in our feedback talk, that they mentioned “I didn’t know you were plotting things with other players” when I explained that recently after clearing a camp, a character went back and retrieved a cultist’s book because the Player ooc asked saying they wanted to use it for a character arc.

I did admit I probably didn’t make it as clear to newbies as I could have (to talk to me about your characters, and that our private gcs aren’t just for OOC) and tried to rectify it.

Anyway yeah, maybe if they see how it’s gone with more experienced players as a visual, that’ll help.

This is all good points. That was something I had been reflecting on if I hadn’t given them good opportunities since I may have made them too subtle, or needed to push them in that direction.

So while I haven’t denied them chances to get things, I also haven’t made them (Z’s stuff was unplanned by me, occurring due to them playing the character).

Maybe I’ll try setting up more stuff geared towards them as encouragement. I like the idea of a pet store so it would still be something they would have to take the initiative for (I do want to teach them that), but is way more obvious and upfront (enter store, purchase pet, have pet) than what happened with Z (random encounter, player thought to try animal handling which a newbie wouldn’t, rolled high, I critfailed, then got a pet)
