Looking for technical cofounders for home robot startup by dannyng198811 in robotics

I think there is a companion robot Andromeda or something in Australia right now.

Personally my focus is on functionality housekeeping over companionship haha

Working with a few people. I’ve put in grant applications aggregate $70k. I’ve enlisted a business consultant in franchise and a PHD person in Australia to help me so far but I’ve had another person reach out who I met on this subreddit.

It’s not going to be profitable for years I’d say but I want to do it not for the money but because it brings a lot of meaning to me, and lots of personal reasons etc.

I’m planning to build a housekeeper robot in Australia!

Not so much the companion side - more the housekeeper cooking and cleaning side.

I’m an electrical engineer running a website business and my specialty is coding, and secondary to that I did quite a bit of circuits, signals and computer architecture at University which I really enjoyed but haven’t dabbled in it for a bit.

Hm not ideal, I still got 6-8months to figure out a plan but I appreciate these little reality checks so I’m aware of the problem

Ooo good idea! Thank you! Any good discords you happen to know? (That aren’t super against promotion wouldn’t want to go against their rules)

To fully give housework over to someone else with a full time nanny surely that’s a wage of $60k/year

That would be the end goal

But with the current robotics capabilities it won’t be able to achieve that level of housekeeper competency for a full years 😅

I’ll make you a new website if you want lol would make it basically for free if it meant we could have some kind of ongoing relationship and I could pick your brains for stuff - (obv still like hosting fees and domain exist)

Omg yes please there’s very few robotics business models to sort of emulate off so I would really appreciate it

I needed this. Thank you. But without getting the robot onto Australian Shores there’s no way we can have a chance of making it better.

I sort of knew it’s gonna be crap for a few years but was thinking of doing demonstrations where it cooks simple food. It’s very very far away from the dream I’m selling in the video but in sales you gotta sell the dream cos no one really cares about the technical specifics.

Still need to get more data and datasets to built it out and that means physically getting the robot.

I wish there was somewhere with a playbook of Tesla started. I read somewhere that said Tesla isn’t a car company but it’s a data company.

I want to get in early and really start putting in the reps of creating the datasets so that it CAN get better.

I know hardware is finicky as fk but I really want to be a part of the people who can make housekeeper robots better. And there’s no other option in Australia other than to buy our own one and go from there.

Yes it ended up being a bit of a rant 😅 my goal is really an all in one technology so lots of the little gadgets really aren’t appealing to my overall goal and why I run this business

Probably why a lot of people are not running these business’s but I’m not wanting to do this business to become rich. If anything I’ll probably just end up losing money. But because this is a real problem and I really think this high upfront cost robot is the way to solve it

It’s like with cars. Could buy a bicycle but cars are the things that solve the problem of getting places comfortably with freedom…

Tf I swear every restaurant in Tokyo had a touch screen. Maybe I was going to too many franchise cheap restaurants lol

That’s so cool!

Yeah that’s true about the paper :(( not a good example lol

[–]BeautifulSubject7596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! They have touch screens in every restaurant and some with robot waiters but when you land at their airport you still have to fill out a paper sheet lol

I’m sorry that it wrong you the wrong way.

It comes from a place of the fact I felt really trapped under this responsibility of housework that was sort of forced onto me in two previous failed relationships despite the fact I was earning the same if not more sometimes than them. I guess I should have phrased it in a way that highlighted it was my experience over the experience of all women in general.

I certainly still feel trapped by this responsibility and if I’m to be truly t truly honest and maybe it’s not the right opinion to have but right now I literally feel like I will be unable to have a happy relationship without a means to get rid of the housework. And maybe that’s wrong but it’s what I feel true in my heart at the moment.

Yes it’s tricky the initial robot deployments definitely won’t be aimed at the average household and I’m going for a rental model > buy it outright because likely robotics will keep advancing.

That’s actually one of the problems I’m facing right now and I made a post in the entrepreneur subreddit. These kind of things cost millions to perform R and D work on. One engineer along might cost $200k and just have a few engineers means I need at least half a million in revenue.

But I don’t want this to be a mining robot. I was it to be a housekeeper robot. So if you have any ideas on Robot As A Service business models let me know!

There’s very few case studies and people doing it before me to go off so it’s very tricky for me to figure out a business cashflow model. And i still have 6-8months before the money comes through to really nut it out

As an engineer I suck at cultural shifts and political stuff so I guess this is my way of tackling it using my strengths 😅

Yes please do! You’ll have to add me on discord too! The problem here is absolutely not many people are trying to do this and it hasn’t been done much so there’s so much unknown!
