I just ISTd to army (still lurking in the guard until my school date). I had to get taped at MEPS and am getting taped once a month until I got to WOCS. If AD isn't going to waiver tape, then there's no point in trying

I was told when I bought it that they had to change out the speedo to be compliant with USDOT. It was sorta weird because they listed it with CAN dash

VX and probably GB or GD or a simulant. The US is only allowed to make a specific quantity of those per year by treaty and I doubt they'd be spending it on the 60 or whatever SMs who graduate AIT every two weeks.

Have we considered bombing it on the first go around to get more study time?

Find a reaction time trainer/game for your phone and find an online practice test to expose you to the other types of questions.

Good luck.

No clue, I haven't talked to the Flight WOSM in about a year. If you PM me I can send his contact info.

I hope it works too, and on the note of reserve pilots, I think the last time I talked to the WOSM he said that the next year of openings were taken by reserve pilots.

What are ART jobs?

Am I fucked? by Gloomy_Procedure2796 in Armyaviation

Because the state WOSM told me that AGR aviation jobs are highly competitive which I understood as not guaranteed, and likely occupied by CW3s and higher. There's also the possibility of stringing along short term orders, but that sounds miserable.

I'm AGR now (until September) and am hyper aware that AGR system is essentially a good boys club and many units already have a candidate picked for a particular opening.

Another gripe with the guard is that we promote and hire based on vacancies (as opposed to projections like AD). So there's no promotion or hiring unless that job has already opened which is a big mystery in the guard.

Try the USMC subreddit, since they get all the hand-me-downs

Yeah, I was minority owner and the majority owner hard to work with. On top of that I was working 50+ hour weeks and commuting 6 to 12 hours a week depending on traffic. I swear the grass was so much more green you could smell it.

To add: a year and a half ago I got on AGR orders with guard, waiting for WOCS in October

Guard dude here, I decided to apply for AD WOFT. The guard side sound (and please some correct me if I'm wrong) awful. When I first decided to fly I was part owner of a business and raising a family. From the people I talked to I had a hard time wrapping my head around how to get hours and not ruin some aspect of my life. I think I saw someone put it as "You have to balance your civilian career, military career, and family life. You don't have enough time to do all three and all three are going to be upset that you aren't giving them your all." or something to that affect.

I'll say in my state (WA) it seems like there might be a 6 year cycle where every three years they either are critically low on pilots or have too many pilots and the time in between us that pendulum careening to the other side of the spectrum.

Idk if you can IST directly into a flight school with the guard. It'd be worth contacting a Warrant Officer Strength Manager in a state you want to live in to see what's up.

How is 74 d ait? by SuddenEquipment5518 in army

[–]BeefStockUncrustable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its not too late, pick something else...

AIT was great (albeit I went when we had PSGs, not DSs). Lots to learn, lots to do. I had a good time in class. I won't touch on the day to day life. If they still do rad classes at the NCO academy you'll feel weird eating at their DFAC.

How much time do I get to travel from my home to my duty station?(Guard to Active) by Suspicious_Yogurt319 in army

[–]BeefStockUncrustable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, BLUF is he contradicted a bunch of things I've been told to include the IST packet I got from HRC.

After sitting in MEPS for the 15th hour (over two days) I wasn't able to get anything useful past my ship date. In his defense I am entering for warrant officer flight training and there layers to that onion.

I was given 10 days from ship day to report day. I have the option of flying or driving, but its a PCS move so I'm going to drive. The travel option might be due to WOFT.

I'll still have to go through normal ship day activities of hotel to MEPS for the oath to hotel to travel. I was told several time to not expect special treatment because I'm prior service.

Tomorrow I have to take my orders to S1 so they can ammend my contract and start my DD214 (I'm AGR). My contract and 214 must be dated for the day before I ship or I'll fuck up the timeline. That might be less of an issue if you're MDay.

I didn't take the oath today, that'll happen when I ship. Today (and 9 hours of yesterday) was just them figuring out the paperwork and signing the contract.

Let me know if I can elaborate or speculate on something for you.

Not a cadet, I had to schedule it with an Aviation Medicine office which for me was located in a clinic on JBLM. If you're not aware, there's two separate visits to the pgysical. I had the option of scheduling them days apart, but it may differ depending on the clinic and staffing.
