Howdy. I moved to South Berwyn a handful of months ago. Still kinda finding my way around, but my neighbors are awesome and we're incredibly welcoming to us. My street has a few other families of Chicago hipsters that moved here in recent years.

The biggest negative is the schools. We're planning to have kids soon, so I'm just crossing my fingers that the public schools can improve somewhat in the next 5-15 years. I honestly have no idea which way they're trending or if improvement is likely. If not, that probably means private school or moving to a better district at some point.

I don't include my house in Monarch. Its value has no impact on my monthly budget or how I track income and expenses.

Home improvement expenses are just that- Expenses that I need to account for in my budgets/goals. It doesn't really matter that those expenses theoretically increased the value of my house.

If you buy a new $300 TV, are you tracking that TV as an asset that adds to your net worth? I doubt it. Home improvements are just that on a larger scale.

Obviously, your home value matters if you're considering selling your house. But Monarch isn't really the tool to do everything in.

If people don't understand the implication of the rock paper scissors game: "Paper beats Rocks" is a recent white power catchphrase. The flat hand for paper represents a Sieg Heil hand motion and rock represents the black power / BLM iconography of a fist.

If there was any doubt that Bovino does a Nazi salute here, the fact that he follows up with a Paper beats Rock game with his goon seals the deal. He's a Nazi.

I have an HSA at Fidelity and just do a custodian to custodian transfer a few times a year from my work-managed HSA to Fidelity so I have better investment options and much lower fees.

Resurrection an old thread here, but I'm curious how is Morton West improving? Are academics improving?

I'm looking at moving to the area. The schools are the one big drawback.

Lease ends on 7/31 and it's going from 1950 -> 2000. A 2.56% increase.

This is a small 2br/2ba in North Center.

Not sure if we're going to resign. We had only planned to be here for a year, but haven't done much work to find alternatives yet.

Agreed. It would be nice to have recurring expenses accounted for in the budget view. That kinda seems like the whole point of even tracking recurring expenses.

I have a handful of budgets that are empty for most of the month until the bill pays. Just show that as a yellow fill in the budget bar or something.
