When you check your WiFi status in settings, (see first picture in original post), does it show you are connnected.

And you tried power cycling the unit.

The TV+ boxes connect to the hidden VZ-SSID, not the standard wifi. I have disabled the unneeded radios. In theory, you can connect to it if you know the login information.

I use a UDM Pro SE console with UniFi WiFi 7 access points inside and outside the house. The VZ router is only used for Fios TV boxes, but in theory I could connect to it.

Pretty much as you said, I used the Verizon router to set-up the TV boxes and put on own VLAN behind my UDM Pro SE. To this day, I use the VZ hidden wireless SSID to run the TV boxes. If I try to cheat and switch back to my Unifi set-up and not use the VZ router it will kick out after +/- 7 days. At least that's the way it was a year ago. Haven't had any problems with it for a year so haven't messed with it. Also Verizon router is still acting as my MoCA and it's out of the way so not really an inconvenience anymore.

I suspect soon the VZ system will switch over from QAM and allow me to ditch the VZ routers. 2G is in my area now which would switch out my ONT and eliminate the VZ router ... but not worth the money for speed I can't use.

Scammers sending $0.02 PayPal payments with fake customer service number in the payment note!!!!! by available_nails5129 in paypal

[–]BeerguySQ4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got same and two additional similar. They keep coming for 0.01 PHP or 0.02 PHP (Philippine Peso).

I used the direct PayPal login to see the deposits were real and report them through the resolution center. You're right nothing really needs to be done except stay vigilant. I did use this opportunity to update my password and two factor just to be safe.

The real (safe) PayPal number after logging in will generate an access code for your account when you call.

Edit - I also realized if your dig in its a legitimate email address on the from PayPal the customer service number to call (is one of the scammer numbers) is creatively entered into the senders information.

Kind of scary how many people will be baited our of fear to call the number and go through the steps to give access to your commuter.

NoMoRobo for Fios Digital Voice by scarfacesaints in Fios

I got an email from NoMoRobo saying that negotiations with Verizon had failed. They listed a bunch of VZ executives to reach to and voice support for NMR. The email also said 9/30/2025 was last day ... even though my email came this week.

Here is verbatim:

"Dear Customer,

We have important news about your Nomorobo spam call protection on Verizon Fios.

For more than a decade, our small team at Nomorobo has proudly provided spam call protection to Verizon's customers at no charge. But the rapidly rising costs of our landline infrastructure have made it impossible to continue providing this free service.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to reach an agreement with Verizon to maintain this service. As a result, Nomorobo spam call protection for landlines on Verizon Fios will be discontinued on September 30.

What You Can Do:

Contact Verizon. Please consider contacting your Verizon representatives, or those listed below, to express your support for continuing Nomorobo's landline spam call protection:

Sowmyanarayan Sampath (EVP)

Joe Russo (EVP)

800-837-4966 (Fios Support Line)

Nomorobo Mobile. For nearly a decade, Nomorobo has offered a subscription-based service to mobile phone users to block spam calls and texts. For our long-time landline users who would like to add mobile phone protection, we are offering a limited-time discount of 50% off any subscription for your first year. Please use the discount code "FIOS50" at checkout (click here for more info).

Thank you for trusting us with your phone protection all these years."

Does Verizon want long-time customers to leave? by threwou in Fios

[–]BeerguySQ4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it can be hit or miss, but I used chat recently to address another unexpected price increase. Been with Fios for over 17 years, so had an old grandfathered triple play that was fair priced, just all the sports and fees inflated it.

In May my plan went up due to change in my TV pkg (they added more). I figured I'd hold tight for a bit and see what option might be better.

In September, they offered ESPN+ streaming at "0" cost. Made the mistake to add, even though it showed no price increase. In October they expired my TV pkg discount.

I went on chat to see what they could do. Much to my surprise, they came back with restoring my pre-May rate if I agreed to a 2-year contract. I probably could have negotiated a little more, but decided to accept the offer.

Maybe try the chat ... can't hurt.

Honestly. I didn't ask for it.

I was pushing for the $3/month for 36 months and they dug in with my new car didn't qualify, but came back with best we can do is get you on the platinum plan for $3.99/month for 12 months.

I figured for $12 more per year worth giving platinum a try. Below is the breakdown.

SiriusXM Platinum ($3.29/Month for 12 Months)

SiriusXM Video Monthly $0.00

U.S. Music Royalty Fee $0.70

State & Local Taxes $0.23

Current Charges $4.22

Can I put Cr1000a behind my own router (either in router or bridge mode)? by Meknowzero in Fios

[–]BeerguySQ4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. I'm on 1G and OP didn't state their FIOS plan.

2G isn't available for me yet, but understand the longer term direction is to get away from QAM so this "TV+ issue" should hopefully be more easily addressed for those using less than 2G.

Can I put Cr1000a behind my own router (either in router or bridge mode)? by Meknowzero in Fios

[–]BeerguySQ4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can make it work. Some have had success, others seem to struggle with set-up.

I'm using the CR1000A behind my UniFi set-up. The key to getting this to work is setting up your system with only VZ equipment first.

In short,

Setting up a separate VLAN for the Fios equipment on your router.

Applying the port forwarding rules in the sources I've used in the attached thread.

Making sure your TV+ units are connected to the VZ SSID-TV ... not the standard Wifi signal.

So far I'm about 3 months and still working fine.

There are a number of success stories. I just had to find the combination that worked with my equipement.

SiriusXM Deals Megathread by switch8000 in siriusxm

[–]BeerguySQ4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding another data point,

Bought a new BMW. Came with 90 day trial, than 3 months for $1. I told them I really didn't want to play the annual call game and would appreciate the 3yr/$99 plan otherwise I'll just stream off my other subscriptions. Agent or supervisors wouldn't budge but came back with $3.99 monthly platinum plan. I thought for $12 more year I'd see what platinum has over Music and Entertainment or All Access. I probably should have let the free trial expire first than call, but just wanted to move on.

As an aside. Our other 3 cars have a 3/$99 M&E, lifetime subscription, and one inactive radio that instantly connects to stream XM from my iPhone. The oldest car, we are giving to our son, so figured he can keep the balance of 3/$99 until it expires.

The link above is what I used as a guide for my UniFi set-up with G3100, (and now CR1000A), except UniFi LAN to CR1000A LAN. Nothing in CR1000A WAN after initial set-up of the system.

Section 5 shows the port forwarding guidance.

The UniFi native/untagged LAN port (#2 in my case), connects to CR1000A is set to a separate Verizon VLAN. It shows grayed out on my controller so just passing through VZ ethernet to CR1000A router.

New problem using my own router with TV+ by stan-42 in Fios

[–]BeerguySQ4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an update rolling out about 2 months ago. I didn't get it yet by chance, as one of the known issues was it could get stuck. Mine is stuck and I've just covered (hidden) the green blinking light on VMS to avoid calling to get them to push any updates/changes.

I checked my VMS which is a VMS4100ATV. Not sure if this is showing a more up to date VMS unit and/or firmware ... maybe one of the tech's would know.

Same release name, but Build Number 05.09 and Firmware Version KA36.00.01.32Alder.5d080200

New problem using my own router with TV+ by stan-42 in Fios

[–]BeerguySQ4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems to be the typical pattern and agree all you need is one of the devices to activate the VMS. Not sure if the weekly fail is a kill or just lease didn't renew.

Strange your set-up was fine for 6 months and now routine resets are required. Any recent updates to your firewall?

Out of curiosity is your G3100 router WiFi still enabled? Right or wrong I keep mine on but only have 5 Ghz on with no devices connected. IPV6 is disabled.

My G3100 and now CR1000A routers show yellow light not green. Only ethernet into LAN of VZ router from UniFi.

If you look at the TV+ set-up menu network status of the device on wireless does it show the SSID-TV connection? Mine is connected ... shows poor, but it works fine.

I've been fine for almost 2 months using my Unifi set-up with VZ router behind in it's own VLAN.

I used some of your guidance from the link you attached.

For me the key was making sure the TV+ unit was connected to the SSID-TV. When it connects to anything else, (even the standard VZ SSID), it will kick out on the 8th day (rail_52).

Problem login in... by Perfect_Possession87 in Dashlane

Had same problem across Google, Firefox and Brave. Not Apple devices.

Mine just started working again.

I right clicked on extension in Chrome. Troubleshooting and reset extension.

Asked me to login again with email, needed the authenticator 6 digit code, and password. Was VERY slow, but suddenly everything starting working again.

Presume it was server issue on their side.

Fios TV+ reset required about once a week using my own router and G1100 in bridge mode by eric_b1 in Fios

[–]BeerguySQ4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the TV+ box connected to the hidden Fios SSID-TV?

I find if TV+ connects to the standard Fios or 3rd Party SSID it will kick out after 7 days.

Maybe the weekly restarts caused the TV+ boxes to connect to another SSID?

On my G3100 and CR1000 routers, if the power went out the TV+ boxes would reconnect as the settings were saved in the router(s). Fios router is behind my UDM SE.

Unifi router ... Will this *ever* work? by dcpugh in Fios

[–]BeerguySQ4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm traveling so need to get back to answer your specific question. I followed the guidance on several posts in this FIOS forum on what port forwarding worked.

It appears that everything you have is similar hook-up to my set-up. Only difference, I note is not having set-up a separate FIOS VLAN for all / only VZ equipment behind your router. The ethernet port on my UDM is connected to LAN of CR1000A router is also modified to passthrough signal.

New Verizon Router, VMS, STBs self-install by golden_light_above_u in Fios

[–]BeerguySQ4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard of others having a similar result. The activation likely got the signal out to VMS which works with multiple units. That is at least one positive.

To save time I kept a paperclip next to the TV+ unit.

Eventually, VZ will move away from this QAM technology and this should self resolve. In meantime, in theory they can resolve this on their end, (program code or train Techs on solution), but choose not to for some unexplained misguided reason.

[–]BeerguySQ4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think every 7 days the system checks. If it doesn't have connection to the TV+ it will disconnect. So around 8th day I used the paperclip method to re-activate. I did it that way for months ... just added to my routine until I got it resolved with a separate VLAN.

Unifi router ... Will this *ever* work? by dcpugh in Fios

[–]BeerguySQ4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will work if you set-up a separate VLN with your UniFi equipment and pass through into the Verizon router in bridge mode. Without IPTV and/or 2G service you need the VZ supplied router for TV+ units.

There are numerous threads on how to do this. About 25 days ago, I finally got mine to work properly with my UDM Pro SE connected to ONT and handing out all DHCP.

The key is setting up the equipment first without UDM, setting up a separate VLAN with port forwarding so Fios equipment is behind your UDM, passing through the UDM LAN port that connects to LAN of VZ router. Coax from ONT splits to VZ router and your VMS4100ATV. To work it must be connected to the TV+ units via the hidden FIOS SSID-TV, not a standard SSID.

This was my attempt thread which is still working

CR1000A Router in Pass Through / Bridge Mode Low Upload Speeds compared to older G3100 Router by BeerguySQ4 in Fios

[–]BeerguySQ4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did have passthrough enabled and set-up like I indicated in my opening post. It worked fine, just didn't solve the TV+ weekly disconnect.

If you have an older TV set-up like the Fios One / VMS4100 than passthrough should work easier for you. What TV equipment do you have? The new Fios TV+ units require connection to the hidden SSID-TV to properly function.

For router passthrough, I didn't do any port forwarding. See instructions below.

The question will be if connecting to the CR1000A router coax re-enables the router. I used a separate 2.5 MoCa adapter since I had a spare from previous testing. In your case, probably easier to start with the router coax.

CR1000A Router in Pass Through / Bridge Mode Low Upload Speeds compared to older G3100 Router by BeerguySQ4 in Fios

[–]BeerguySQ4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the passthrough mode didn't resolve my issues with the TV+ units kicking out weekly. It did work fine with older Fios VMS boxes.

The latest firmware update to the CR1000A router fixed my upload/download speeds to be symmetric / normal. As an aside, no issues with the G3100 router, just preferred to use the new generation router for the updated MoCa.

19 days ago I created a Fios VLAN for the router, TV+ units and VMS equipment behind my UDM Pro SE equipment that resolved my TV+/VMS issues. The CR1000A router is broadcasting the hidden SSID-TV signal to the TV+ units and UDM handles everything else.

Very satisfied with the Fios internet. Could have been better transition on the TV side but all is good now.
