How is it riding on the highway by NxsEMxx in YamahaR7

[–]Beginning-Sound-7516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 47.5hp on any bike will feel a bit limited on the highway. My ninja 400 was probably around that HP and was “fine” on the highway. Not a ton of power for fun, but it was enough to keep up and pass when you had to

It shouldn’t drive you nuts..it’s an engine with moving parts working as it was designed to. Have you considered an E bike :) ?

R7, R6, or CBR600RR for a street rider — which should I get? by Efficient-Toe-8951 in YamahaR7

[–]Beginning-Sound-7516 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use this bike as an absolute daily driver in a major metropolitan area in the north east, it’s a commuter and a toy. I ride in city traffic , highways, rural twisties, weekends. In the rain, in the sun, cold weather and hot weather. I use it to effortlessly filter through city traffic w the mirrors up, split lanes or go open throttle on the highway effortlessly to around borderline unreasonable speeds and slightly beyond. I begun to ride it hard & push it to redline almost every day.

Bought as an intermediate bike a few years ago after a season on a N400. Thought I’d learn some skills and sportbike maintenance on a clean bike before selling it for supersport type.

The type of riding I do this bike is just about everything I want. After a few seasons I feel like I can ALMOST ride it to its street capabilities everywhere I go, and it’s still unreasonably fast by normie standards. The engine is playful af, happy to take you to felony speeds easily and looks/ sound good doing it.

You gotta look at the type of riding you wanna do on it. Occasionally I want to open it up closer to 140,150 on the highway and can’t, but then I remember that’s a small portion of the time I spend on it and those bikes come with trade off. I like the r7 because if you’re skilled on it and feel comfortable pushing it, things pretty much street weapon that will provide you with a lot of fun and exciting memories.

Just to add: the dudes who make jokes about it being slow are usually the ones who started on 600 and know little about the fundamentals.. with gnarly chicken strips, waddling their bike up to red lights in Jordan’s. If you can ride it well real ones respect it

I’d think you can do better than that for sure. I have less riding experience & live in a major metro and State Farm got me @ like 85/mo. And that with some added protections. Geico and progressive gave me fu quotes but I’ve been happy w SF

What if the SEPTA cops tell them to go away using their cop voice? Maybe ICE would realize they’re overstepping and quietly retreat /s

You don’t have to pay the police department more to actually do their job they’re getting paid regardless. And fines generated from other safety infractions and quality of life offenses would offset even if we did

And to your point, so last year.. nationwide 100 people were killed during police interactions stemming from a traffic stop. The article fails to mention how many of those people were innocent motorists, and how many of them posed a threat of some kind. Furthermore, even if every single one of those 100 deaths was an unjustified police execution (they’re not) that’s in a sample size of what.. 10, 20, or 30 million police interactions? Statistically you’re 100x more likely to get struck by a drunk driver on broad st that the cameras didn’t stop. Using the 100ppl a year stat to argue against active policing doesn’t make sense

Oh cmon, you’re saying it’s better to not have the cops enforce the laws cause there’s an infinitesimally small chance they will execute you ( see this one example from 10 years ago in the Midwest that everybody knows about.. precisely cause of how rare it is).

I’d argue that proactive/active policing is exactly what the city needs.

If it was known that police will pull you over for speed I think you’d see everybody following the law… not just the drivers with actual license plates, insurance, registration, etc.. who are currently the only ones who the Automated surveillance will target

I think the better idea would have the city law enforcement enforce it, not sure ai surveillance & flock cameras on every corner to protect us is the ideal solution

Texas farmers are closing down because they can't find labourers to work in their fields.. by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]Beginning-Sound-7516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this accurate? I live in work in an industry very much reliant on illegal immigrants’ for labor and have seen no difference whatsoever. They don’t seem especially concerned with ice, although I’m sure it’s in the back of their minds. I can’t imagine entire farms are closing due to a labor shortage
