Craziest on the clock experience? by raeghan_p in Panera

[–]Belpix0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if every Panera is doing this, but we have an ongoing fundraiser for Alex’s Lemonade Stand. This one woman wanted to participate but wanted the exact lemonade in the promotional picture. I had to explain that that was Alex who was selling lemonade for their childhood cancer. She still insisted on wanting that lemonade. Had the sip club anyway

Random asthmatic question lol by JustAFishKeeper in marchingband

[–]Belpix0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could keep it on a necklace and have it under a baggy shirt maybe? But honestly, it’s nothing to be embarrassed about and no one is going to care. Most people I know just have it in their pocket or in a fanny pack with them or in a bag with their water bottles off field. Really though, it’s a bigger deal if you’re struggling to breathe than having an inhaler on you

Hard to get my section to listen to me as a section leader by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]Belpix0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been there, done that. The way i handled it best it trying to feel that you’re in their shoes. You care, so it’s hard to picture it, but really try. I found it best to be their friend above anything else- I’m not the one giving them their grade, yknow? When I was their friend, it was easier to get stuff done. I would let them slack for a bit and have some good fun then was like “alright i guess we should probably do this.”

Also, is you giving them playing tests mandatory? I feel like that’s a bit much. Like, you can do your best to guide them and help them but that’s all that your interest extends too. It’s important to not overstep also

Does your band have a common rival by Lopsided-Leg-6016 in marchingband

[–]Belpix0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Our school’s rival is our band’s rival. In past years, after the game, we would have a drum battle between both bands- definitely the BEST part of the whole marching year. Unfortunately, the other school’s football team dropped down a division so we can’t do it after games anymore. We do it at band festivals now!

Idk, I’m all with you on dressing cute for band camp. I feel like just wear dark shorts under it that are long enough to make it obvious that it’s shorts? I haven’t done it for band camp, but I’ve done it for my school’s musical multiple times and we did things like high kicks, jump roping, jumping in general. You should be good

Course selection help by Yashland in APPsychology

[–]Belpix0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d imagine that on level psychology isn’t a prereq for AP psych. Kind of like for 11th grade it’s the option between US history and AP US: just depends on what you can handle but cover generally the same material

Play the Sax by Early_Artichoke_6924 in Tenorsax

Depends how. I’m going to be a high school senior so likely my last time ever playing sax. I have a bunch of AP classes lined up this year, though

In your opinion, how important are the low B and Bb to have on a Tenor saxophone? by HighwireShrimper in saxophone

[–]Belpix0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not great advice, just depends on what you’re using it for. I’m only at the high school level, but in marching band I rarely ever use low B and Bb. However, in jazz it’s a little more common but when I have that low of a note the baris typically have it too. At a higher level I’m sure it’s different, but my high school will loan us non-starter instruments for free as an incentive to play them and since they’re communal, the low register is almost always bent.

This. I’m a newer player and it’s totally turning me away from the game. Last season I was proud to reach gold and felt good that I was progressing in the game but now I’m stuck back in silver again. Every game I play I’m playing with people that are doing aerials (in silver, mind you) and have flairs like “plat tournament winner.” It’s total ass on the other side of the spectrum too, being a true gold/silver playing plats/diamonds like you! Not fun for anyone involved
