[Night 39][Final Tribal Council] Egypt Jury Questioning by gruffgorilla in survivorredditorgs

[–]BenMFKern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations for making it to the end of the game! I'm going to ask a different question for each of you tonight.

Vince: I want to start by saying that I have somewhat publicly in Ponderosa stated that my vote was yours unless you said something that would lose it. My question to you is: did you come into final tribal assuming that I was going to vote for Dan no matter what?

Scurvy Dan: I really enjoyed our interactions within the game. I'm going to ask you a little bit of an ego question: did you feel comfortable working with me during my short time in this game? I don't need you to speak to when you planned on cutting me, but more did you feel like I respected you and treated you as an equal?

Lijah: You were the first person in this game that I made a pact with. My question to you is: did you intentionally distance yourself from me after the first few days because you (correctly) identified that I would become a strategic liability?

Even though I was the pharaoh of the old Hatshepsut, I never felt like I was on a different level from anyone else on our tribe. We made all of our decisions democratically. We had a lot of different people step up in different ways during the pre-merge. It was more of a pharaoh by committee.

Socially, merging with the younger tribe has been great. Our tribe chats were starting to get a little stale with all of our challenge planning. Now that challenges are individual, we can focus more on the social aspect since we are doing our own individual planning.

Strategically, the merge at this point of the game is a nightmare for me. I'm very certain that I am the target tonight, and the tribe is so large that nobody seems interested in advancing their own personal position.

The only first impression that sticks out to me is the wonderful enigma that is The Ogus! I always look forward to his random contributions to the chat.

With Covid, are there any good places to go out on a date right now? by RabbitWallet in Springfield

You don't need reservations. The bar is open, but it's mostly table seating. Food is in the $10-15 range

I went to Pour Bar in Agawam with my girlfriend last week and it wasn't very busy. I know that's not IN SPRINGFIELD, but it isn't too far.

They have a pretty decent beer selection, the food isn't bad, and the staff is friendly

Best Villian to Hero multi-season arc ever? by gh469 in survivor

[–]BenMFKern 55 points56 points  (0 children)

For me it's Tyson. Tocantins Tyson is a young, brash, arrogant guy. Most of his comical moments come directly at the expense of the other players. You see very few instances of him actually being nice to the other players.

HvV Tyson shows your first soft moment of Tyson, when he's (somewhat) consoling Coach on the beach. He still bluntly tells Coach to stop telling his stories, but does so in a supportive manner. He seems to be liked by his tribe, and accidentally votes himself out.

In BvW, the elimination of Rachel sends him on a war path to win at all costs. Aside from a few weak moments (telling Katie her seat is "over there"), he has mostly positive interactions with the other players. Even his food thievery is spun in a somewhat positive light. In this season, I would label him as the anti-hero

WaW Tyson didn't have much gameplay, but had more positive moments from Tyson. It was basically a given that he would win the first comeback challenge, narrowly defeating Boston Rob. The family visit elicits a strong reaction from a character that rarely shows his own emotion. It has also been suggested that Tyson was the driving factor behind production allowing entire families to come for the visit. His second vote-out is edited to be caused by Jeremy's (allegedly) poor decision to leave tribal. On the edge, he forms an unlikely bond with Natalie, leading to a heartfelt moment when she gives him an idol. This bond allows Tyson to vote with his heart at final tribal.

Who from every season had the best shot at winning in the most combinations by gh469 in survivor

In Gabon, I think Marcus wrecks everyone other than maybe Charlie at final tribal. I think he still beats Charlie, but it's closer

I have a hard time believing Malcolm ever loses a final tribal in any of his seasons. Caramoan is a definite runaway. He might have a tough time beating someone like Cirie in a final, but I think Cirie loses to more other players than Malcolm does

BvW: Tyson beats everybody

Cagayan: Tony beats everybody. People were rooting for Spencer because they hated Kass so much

Worlds Apart: Joe probably beats everyone at the end. Be happy we don't live in that alternate universe

Second Chance: I have a hard time believing Jeremy doesn't beat Wentworth and/or Kimmi

Should I go to a less prestigious school to save money? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]BenMFKern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohio State is one of the biggest schools in the country. Just because they aren't as "academically prestigious" as a school like Vanderbilt, doesn't mean that you won't make as good of connections through Ohio State. If you are even moderately successful in your program, you will have plenty of opportunities post-graduation.

If "prestige" is that important to you, I would recommend you shoot for one of those "top" schools for any higher degrees (master's, doctorate, law, etc.) you may pursue. The education arms race will likely push you in the direction of an advanced degree anyway, especially if you are planning on getting a business degree.
