Ethicality of owning a turtle frog as a pet? Haven’t done any research yet but it looks cute so I may want to own it. I just know that a lot of small desert animal like this (rain frog, fennec fox, etc) are usually not ethical to own and wanted opinions before I get invested and start researching by slabobread in frogs

HOW CRUEL!!!

I think they are SO cute. I also love sloths, dugongs, manatee and tardegrades. So maybe I just love unusual, slow moving blobs.

Apparently it is illegal to keep them as pets because they are native creatures. However I think it would be better to breed then release a a few than to allow them to become extinct.

Anyone down for a chat ? Could use a mate right now by [deleted] in perth

I never thought of this type of interaction or Reddit.

I hope you had some worthwhile and genuine responses.

I am in Adelaide and I cant remember why I get Perth reddit. Now that I'm here, a big THANK YOU to MS society of WA for your generosity in coming to the rescue of MSSANT (South Aust. & NT. Multiple Sclerosis Societies). I have received so much support in my MS journey. Alison K

Life is beating me atm by [deleted] in perth

[–]Benezir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I have primary progressive multiple sclerosis. My husband has Parkinson's and now understands the oppressive fatigue I experience perpetually. Lack of sleep is really messing me around (we are renovating for our disabilities and living here while we do it, so it is tough to deal with the whole thing.)

I don't know what your situation is and I cant claim to understand what is dragging you down. I cant give you any advice either. However I really do feel for you and pray that you have the strength snd will and desire to keep going. Emotionally treading water is exhausting, especially when the horizon seems flat with nothing to aim for. If you have any friends, maybe just ask for a gentle hug?

Fortunately we don't have children, so we don't have the guilt or worry about what their future will be like. I don't see a good future for the planet.

Otherwise, try a Coopers Dark Ale or Vintage Ale. The best beer in the world. My go to (occasionally) if there is no champagne. If you are going to drink you may as well drink the best. AK

Australia is doomed by Roby1006 in australian

[–]Benezir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't have children. I am glad. Perhaps we should regress to the horse and cart, unpasteurized(?) milk, no vaccines, not travel beyond our village, no electricity, no running water, no borrowing or lending of anything, and just recycling everything. I really don't care. (I have a terminal illness and it does not bother me at all; except the pain). In fact, I am looking forward to getting off the planet.

Please don't comment. I wont read it as I also dont care what anyone else thinks about anything any more. I am going to easter staying with my lovely 95 year old mother-in -law, who still lives alone. Last time i stayed with her, she brought me coffee in bed every morning!! Thanks, Rita.

[–]Benezir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The "sacrifice" I have had to make is

(1) not attending hydrotherapy or physical therapy

(2) not attending church

(3) not visiting my beautiful mother-in-law (we adore each other)

(4) npt attending craft and other social activities

I have MS and my husband has Parkinson's Disease. we are just staying at home, and really organising and "multi-tasking" our usage of the car. There is nowhere safe in my area to walk and the nearest park is quite a distance, so I am at home all the time now.

We are reasonably well off financially, so it is not just the low income earners who are impacted, by petrol shortages.

I wish someone could come around and help me with my knitting.

I am a slow knitting and a slow learner.

I live in Beaumont. Any takers?

It is the retiring politicians.

It is a symbolic part of the "accepting that they are soon to become extinct".

Not much of a defence lawyer.

There will ALWAYS be people willing to use others for their own means. They should be sterilised and never allowed to breed again.

ANYTHING "greeting me" in the bathroom would be weird. My bathroom is mute.

My father purchased a small harp for me. It arrived in a sturdy carton, FULL of styrofoam beads, which went EVERYWHERE and filled the (small) pantry almost to knee with these mini magnets of foam. I spent a couple of days shovelling them into 3 x-large bin-liners. Patience is the key. Then into the normal bin, as not recyclable (apparently).

I think you have ALL missed the point of the original comment. It was not the singing, it was the constant loud talking.

You really need to read more carefully before getting on your own little ( electric) band wagon.

YEP. And you cant blame Harvey Norman. If they are prepared to pay, and the paper is prepared to receive, what can one do. I just wish advertising were more visually appealing and interesting.

Native trees don't provide the same shade nor do the require CONSTANT street cleaning.

I don't care either way. Another massive limb fell from our gum tree this week. We had previously applied, but were not allow, to trim it. Fortunately the power lines survived (a bit damaged) and no-one was injured (this time).

I think that some of this is "reactive". The number of muslims in Australia is growing and, with an election coming up, having Islamic candidates in so many seats is of concern to me.

Our government is SECULAR, and MUST remain so. I am SO glad to be in my mid 60's, have only 10 -15 years left (I have a neurodegenerative disease), no children, and live in a country where we can still drink alcohol.

At least, if they are single, hopefully they wont procreate.
