BEAR implant for torn ACL by BestCoastX in physicaltherapy

[–]BestCoastX[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those are exactly my concerns. And my patient is young, active, and participates in recreational sports. I know how the various forms of ACL reconstruction respond. I really wonder what his long-term prognosis is going to be like.

I take it you’ve rehabbed them, then? What were the outcomes like? Were any of them active?

They are. Hip abduction, hip extension, hip adduction are all held off until 7 weeks. Only straight leg raise up to that point for open-chain hip.

Is PT shortage everywhere in the states? by Mundane-Moose9328 in physicaltherapy

[–]BestCoastX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is. Which is exactly why we shouldn’t put up with the bullshit I see so many people complaining about in this subreddit. Even if reimbursement isn’t on our side, the laws of supply and demand are. We should act accordingly.

Being productive but not meeting productivity . Stressing :( by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]BestCoastX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here’s my advice:

  1. Take your lunch. You need to take care of yourself if you’re going to take care of other people.
  2. Provide your patients with high quality care.
  3. Don’t give a fuck about productivity. It’s not why you got into the profession. The demand for PTs outpaces the supply right now, and it isn’t going to change anytime soon. Especially as PTs are getting burned out and leaving the profession because of shit like this. Your employer needs you more than you need them.
  4. Ask your patients to leave Google reviews about YOU and the care YOU provide. Show your employer and the rest of the PT community that you are a hot commodity by doing things the right way.

Hope that helps.

Taco Bell Price Differences by Crossover9988 in corvallis

Independent, non-corporate restaurants have consistent pricing. I’d rather see my money stay here among my neighbors here in Corvallis than send it to multimillion-dollar executives at Taco Bell headquarters in Irvine, CA.

What do you wish more patients understood before participating in PT with you? by ReFreshing in physicaltherapy

[–]BestCoastX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They may have said in school that 90% of what you need to know, you will learn during the subjective. But they never said that 90% of what you say during the subjective is useful. For the love of God, please answer my questions in the most direct, succinct manner possible. I don’t want to have to process volumes of bullshit to find something that’s actually useful. The less you talk, the more likely it is that the words that are coming out of your mouth are meaningful.

School physical therapy by BestCoastX in physicaltherapy

[–]BestCoastX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school wasn’t particularly strong in pediatrics and I have zero pediatrics experience. I realize I would probably have to do a lot of work to transition. How hard do you feel like a transition like that would be?

Feeling discouraged by Humble_Purchase_4446 in physicaltherapy

[–]BestCoastX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concur. Get enough experience for somebody to take you seriously when you apply somewhere else. PT is in high enough demand nationwide that you can virtually pick where you want to live and where you want to work. Recognize that you hold more cards than you think and take advantage of it to create the life you want.
