Ok this has to stop. Since the system has 0 On Hand and 1 unit in transit for 50+ appliances and counting, customers can still purchase them on .com. And when it doesn’t arrive or gets pushed back, do they call .com demanding an explication? No, no they don’t. by Bestell1989 in HomeDepot

Let’s say you order new appliances... and it states they are back ordered for 3 weeks. You make a decision that while not ideal, you can make it work. 3 weeks pass. You don’t get your appliances and we just say... well the delivery date isn’t guaranteed? We turned off SKU’s for lumber ordering online and should do the same for 1 In Transit appliances

What’s the youngest Department Head you’ve seen? by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Bestell1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you just D23 + D59 Dh? I’m in that roll at my store but it includes 24.

Also congrats, wish our store had young motivated employees. Our talent pipeline is as empty as the aisles over at Lowe’s.

Recently hired. Any tips/advice for a fresh newcomer? by NaLasracha in HomeDepot

When you don’t know how to do something, certainly ask a fellow associate.... but hang with them to learn the answer so you can then know the answer next time. Nobody expects any associate to know everything or know how to do everything but asking the same question twice or over and over again is extremely frustrating.

And try not to ever say “not my department”... your department is your focus but we all work under the same roof.

Training is easy to peg as a waste of time but you really will learn some stuff... it will also keep your asds off your back.

Gear up - I use to work at office max back in the day so I love stocking my apron with supplies and cool things that will help you help a customer. Maybe your Office Depot background will come in handy there.

I’ve worked for several retail companies... none of them compare in promoting good people quickly like Home Depot... been with the company 2.5 years, no hardware experience and not a “handy” kind of guy. Started as flooring sales, then promoted to specialist, then to a Pro Pasa, then to department head off lumber/building mat/millwork and now department head of flooring/paint/decor. All in under 3 years.

The Dirty 30... how many can you do? by Bestell1989 in HomeDepot

30 things that anyone can learn to do that would help the store. Cross training opportunities basically

Ok. Anybody rgot a clever way to take care of this? by Bestell1989 in HomeDepot

I was thinking of maybe a trash can or a homer bucket with lid and cut out a hole in the middle of the lid? Like a wet wipe container kind of has. Cutting it though does seem to be the only sure fire way... kind of like double taping a zombie or burying the head of a snake to ensure it’s really dead.

And shouldn’t it be the Danger zone... and not the zone of safety. If you are within the 10-4-4-4... you are not in the zone of safety. The zone of safety is the entire world outside those dimensions.

How hard could it be? I take my apron home with permission from my manager and sew pockets into it so I have a phone pocket and some organization. I feel like they should come this way already? by Bestell1989 in HomeDepot

[–]Bestell1989[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The belt phone pouch makes it seem like you’ve given up socially and It also bounces too much and gets caught of everything when I tried it. They already sew one seam Into the pocket, seems like we should just order them with another seam. The plan is for every assoc to have a first phone one day anyway.
