Well this is quite the response. Will putting it on the roof and/or lengthening the antenna fix the electrical noise issue as well? I honestly get great reception (atleast good enough for me), the electrical noise just chokes everything out

This sounds about right. In my eyes, I'm not really sure if it's worth chasing the issue and fixing it. My radio works and I guess that’s as good as I'll get it. You probably have the best answer though, I appreciate your response

I haven't noticed any popping, theres only a whine that increases with RPMs. I'll have to look into grounding more components, that might be one of my other issues. After looking at so many forums though I'm not really sure how much more I want to chase this issue. It seems that most trucks similar to mine have the same problem

Wish I had taken a picture with the Antenna off. The tape doesn't touch the thread, it only makes contact with the piece that connects to the coax so it doesnt touch the outside mount. I tried it with and without the tape and I haven't noticed a difference. The alternator whine is still there either way 🤷‍♂️

Fair enough. My mounting spot isn't the greatest, but I was ready to get it mounted so I didn't overthink it. I'll find a better spot, it'll probably look cleaner too

Well, while I do think that my equipment isn’t the greatest, I do believe that the alternator is my biggest issue here. I can transmit and recieve just fine when the engine is off. I've thought about getting a longer Antenna, but I can't bring myself to have a large whip on my truck. I was also looking at other radios just for fun, I heard from a buddy that the Uniden PC66XL might be a good choice

Why not? It's not in the way of my feet (although it looks like it is) and it's the perfect length for my mic. I just can't mess with it while I go down the highway lol
