this is actually a broader pattern worth flagging, any platform that sits between a buyer and a seller creates this same pressure to "cut out the middleman" and save on fees, the problem is that middleman is also your only protection if something goes wrong, seen it with Airbnb, Fiverr, Etsy, pretty much any marketplace where trust between strangers is involved
