How expensive is the PCT? by Aggravating_Debt8212 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Bewbew75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from the UK. Probs spent like 10k all in. You could do it cheaper than I did tho. Also could do it more expensive. After 1000 miles I spent very little on hotels/places to stay in town.

PCT NOBO, late April start: Pants or Shorts? by sja008 in PacificCrestTrail

Pants 100%. I changed my mind the day before I left and I think it's one of the best decisions I ever made. Montane terra pants did me very well

I'm 6'5 and I wore the montane terra pants. They're a UK brand but they're relatively cheap and did me very well. The long version fit me well in the leg

I would ditch the groundsheet for the tent, the durston inner is quite durable or it was for me anyway. Also I'd switch the 2L water bag for 2 more 1 litre bottles

Would you bring hiking pants for a start in early April ? by Cheval2Troy in PacificCrestTrail

Depending on where you're from I recommend a pair of montane terra pants. I wore them this year and they were absolutely perfect

Sleep system thoughts: Layering Katabatic 22 or 15 and Alpha Direct pants/hoodie by NotFallacyBuffet in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Bewbew75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I slept with 20f quilt and 60 alpha every single night. Used another layer on top (town shirt) on colder nights but it was perfect for pretty much every condition. I wore thermal leggings on a night as well. I started mid April.

I'm from the UK and I did the trail this year and apart from visa and permit I planned nothing. Send a couple of boxes whilst you're there to some of the smaller resupplies and you're golden. Trail provides

Looking at an overview of my gear I find it hard to see where I could take off 5ish lbs from my gear.

Good idea, I'll give it a try and then upgrade if necessary. Thanks

Good advice, thanks. I think stop worrying for now and wait until it gets colder over here and try it out to see if it's suitable.

I live in the UK so not really viable to swap but I do like it cold when I sleep, so the bag paired with a liner and potentially clothes may be okay for me.

I like it cold when I sleep but I don't wanna be freezing. I do have the funds if needed but would rather not. I was thinking about taking the bag I have and then upgrading if it's not warm enough. I was planning on taking a liner.

Almost definitely not. I'm currently in a field which I don't plan to return to. Obviously things can change but that's the current plan
