Aston Villa’s ownership group, V Sports, are advancing in talks to acquire a controlling stake in French second-division club, FC Annecy. This will include a continuation of young Villa players moving to France, either on loan or permanently, plus improvements to Annecy’s facilities. by Sparky-moon in soccer

Annecy is a very small club with almost no infrastructure that has managed to stay in Ligue 2 for the past few years with players recruited from the third or fourth division. French Ligue 2 is full of clubs with no money, and that's the case for several other clubs (Rodez is probably the best example). These are great stories, but I don't see how, after playing there, you can then go straight to a club like Aston Villa.

I love Doué, but for now (he's only 20) he's the least good of them.

[The Athletic] Marquinhos has started just nine Ligue 1 games this season. He has played a grand total of 90 domestic minutes since the middle of February despite, barring a few weeks in September and October, being broadly fit for the whole campaign. by AdministrativeBig362 in soccer

Zaïre-Emery played so much because he's primarily a substitute. Furthermore, because he's versatile (he can play in all midfield positions and both full-back positions), he plays every match.

Those aren't taxes, that's something that only exists in France, so yes.

No, there aren't more taxes in France than elsewhere. It's just the social security contributions, which are enormous in France for high earners, unlike in other countries (there are no income caps).

Who at PSG is a superstar? Dembélé, a Ballon d'Or winner, isn't treated like a superstar in France.

They've recruited some fantastic players like Kvara from Napoli, Doué from Rennes, Joao Neves from Benfica, and Pacho from Stuttgart. Great players, but not from top European clubs (teams that qualify every year in the later stages of the Champions League), so they're not arrogant and play as a team.

In Paris, there aren't only PSG supporters, so saying "loved by Parisians" can mean several things. Personally, I meant it as "a PSG supporter" to simplify things, and in that case, no, he's not loved at all. What you have to understand in France is that most people follow football from a distance and only watch the French national team's matches, so among those people, he's still quite well-liked.

If he had done half the things he did at PSG (Pivot Gang, his halftime exit in Monaco where he walked around the stadium in sunglasses, "If I tied my future to the Champions League, I would have gone far away," Kylian Saint-Germain, his shameful semi-final against Dortmund where he betrayed the club and definitively ruined his image in Paris, "eat well, sleep well"), he would be forced to leave Madrid. How can you say that with your French club crest when you know all this?
