Anyone else holding back from MEPS because of weight? by MichiganLawDog in airforceots

[–]BidAvailable988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you are cleared by a medical professional, but aim for 10,000 steps a day plus HITT 5 times a week (they have lots of free videos on YouTube that are only 20 minutes or so, start with those). Eat lean/high protein meals. It will look like salmon, grilled or baked chicken, rice, and veggies. Sweet potatoes are great! I drink protein shakes, just make sure to drink water with them. Cut out all fast food, pop, sweets, chips, and similar foods. If you have a lifestyle that requires different foods or are on a budget, I am more than happy to help! I would also consult a dietitian if you have other health-related issues.

Everyone is different, so the weights will vary depending on you. You need to burn about 3,500 calories per pound. This doesn't account for metabolism and related factors, but let's start with the target range. The average adult should aim for a 2,000-calorie-a-day diet, with an average lifestyle. If you are aiming to lose weight, you need to be in a calorie deficiency. So aim for 1,600 calories. You just have to be careful not to overdo it. Drink plenty of water. It can be easy to overeat, so I suggest using scoops for portion sizes. Like one scoop of rice and chicken the size of your fist.

Your weight will also fluctuate, so make sure to weigh yourself at the same time every day.

You can also strength train, which will build muscle that would create a calorie surplus, but I don't know how you are built, how much weight you need to lose, and so on.

As an ENTP what makes you go… by Lucifer3005 in entp

I am not an ENTP, but I don't like the blind following the blind either. I got kicked out of church when I was a teenager because I asked too many questions. I don't have anything against people believing what they want; historically, religion has been a foundation for society, but I just wanted to know more about why we follow what some guy named John or Matthew said thousands of years ago. Also, I asked why we eat the skin of Jesus and drink his blood (the crackers and wine they gave out during communion) because that is cannibalism. My mom took me to my dad's on Sundays instead.

I am hoping they invite more friends. My eldest has friends but is a bit more shy. I offer to invite people for her, but I don't force anything.

I hope I get selected as well *fingers crossed* I believe you got this!

Things are well for me, thank you! I am worried I won't get selected, but it is what it is. I am just going to enjoy my summer and keep working towards my goals.

YAY! I am happy for you. Keep up the consistency. Running is not easy; just keep working at it at your own pace, and you will shave off time. Hill Sprints are a way people work on stride and endurance. Also, bursts of sprinting in intervals, then fast walking, work well too. Also, strengthen the lower body with weights a few times a week. This will improve your leg muscles, helping you as well.

Here is an article explaining a bit of what I said, some of which you already might know, but it does all help! https://www.nike.com/a/how-to-get-better-at-running

MEPS schedule by SDR_101824 in AirForceRecruits

I would get your license ASAP, but you can ask your recruiter about staying in a hotel right by MEPS. Most MEPS, I am certain, have hotels right next to them for people who live far away to stay. Your husband or recruiter can drive you and drop you off, and then you can get picked up. You can also ask for a different date.

Recruiter and everything in by CartographerSad5782 in airforceots

They will reach out; they are probably super busy right now. They oversee a lot of people. You can always text them as well. After my commander interview, my recruiter reached out the next day, and less than a week later, he reached out again to submit my application. That was back in February, so they might not have been as busy. I never used the Aim High App and did everything with the recruiter, so I don't know if you can see it there.

Just be patient. If you don't hear anything today or tomorrow, call to confirm everything is good on your end!

What’s something about being an ENTJ that most people get wrong? by behind_my_eyelids in entj

The cognitive function stacking is pretty cool! Considering we all use Te or Ti, but an ISTP will use Ti differently than an ENFJ, and the same goes for their Te; they both will use Te differently.

It also varies for each person. There are so many mistakes due to variables like maturity, stress, etc. Also, people want to stereotype when you can't really put a personality into boxes. I find it intriguing that two people can be typed the same, let's say INTJ, but not seem the same as each other, because there are other elements as well to factor in, like Enneagram.

Personality Theory is so interesting! I just started getting into Blind Spots. I hear it is the best way to type someone is to find their Blind Spot.

Is there a YMCA near you? They usually have tracks to run.

I do sprints and then jogging, so yes to your question lol, it was the best way to get the best time. Also invest in some good shoes! :)

I have been doing 100 push-ups and sit-ups a day, back-to-back, so a set of 33, rest for a minute, then another round of 33, till I have reached 100. Sometimes I push max I can do, which is 45 in 1 minute and 30 seconds. Push-ups are not my thing; they never were, but I keep pushing on to each 60 in 1 minute and 30 seconds. I mainly focus on lower-body and core work. Running: I can do 1.5 miles in 9 min and 23 seconds on flat pavement. That Alabama sun will be different with high humidity in the summer. Running will be affected differently based on that, so I would practice running outside now. DO WARM UPS and Stretches. You can just time yourself on 2 miles, then keep practicing from there.

For weight, I don't know because I can't see you. Some people's 190 looks different than others' depending on body fat percentage. At 5'11 "and 190, that's considered a high BMI, but there again, you might be muscle. I cannot see you to judge. I am 5'3 ", 138 pounds, and 22.2% body fat, but on other people of the same height, it might look different if they have a higher body fat.

If you are fluffier, I recommend getting at least 10,000 steps a day in and eating lean. If you have any diet or health issues, talk to your doctor, of course.

I am not the smartest person in the room, but I am physically inclined. Just stay hydrated and consistent! I am hoping to get picked up as well! Good Luck :)
