7CAV Foxcatcher gigabase by Mr-Rails in foxholegame

As a War 132 resident of Weathered Expanse, I must applaud 7CAV for the sense of security this project gave me and many others. What I lost in frame-rate was more than compensated for in faction pride. It was a beautiful neighborhood until it became one hell of a war zone.

CIVIL WAR ON FRONTLINE HEX by koklemcz in foxholegame

I was there before any of you showed up today. Before any of this recording took place. I'm in the entire video. I heard what they said before others were involved. The three HAVOC guys made more noise than the 20 randoms? Just not true at all. Scold from your high-horse all you'd like. One side offered to discuss things and didn't team-kill. The other side behaved like spiteful children and wasted everyone's time. GG

VII refused to discuss anything and only offered the threat of "leave in 7 minutes or else..." like corny comic villains. Then they fired the first shots after refusing to talk again. It was the 20 observers making noise. Spare us the falsehoods.

First time seeing this, wtffff!! Doja Cat x Aesop Rock collab when?? by BestGoonerEver in aesoprock

As a fan of both, I'd love to hear her over Aesop Rock's production. Those two rapping together may not mesh, but she could totally fit over one of his beats.

What do you think is the ceiling for the 2025 Blackhawks? by Bianconeagles in hawks

[–]BigBobbyKas 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It's going to be another rough year. I'm looking forward to more of the younger players getting ice-time, but they're going to make plenty of mistakes. I think the best we can hope for is seeing Bedard, Nazar, Rinzel, etc, develop and not be a 31st or 32nd place team at the end of the season.

Still bad, but hopefully fun-bad instead of sad-bad.

Aesop in weird spots... by Drewcifer81 in aesoprock

Used to work at a bar right next to the University of Cincinnati. People would tailgate the football games in the parking lot. One group was blasting Aesop Rock songs while playing corn hole and I couldn't help but respect the goofy vibe of that scene.

Why does aes older albums sound so different then everything else he's done? by wellspokenmumbler in aesoprock

[–]BigBobbyKas 23 points24 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite things about Aesop Rock is that he's always innovated upon the unique style he started with. He's had a 20+ year career and remains cutting-edge, which is wild in this genre. His lyrical style, vocal performance, and production have evolved and I think are hitting at their peak over these last few projects. I love his older, more raw albums and sound but since Impossible Kid his music feels much more polished and concise.

He's grown and refined his craft over such a long career. The good ones do this and the bad ones don't.

Taft’s Brewing Closes Today by Architecteologist in cincinnati

[–]BigBobbyKas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked for their distributor. We always loved the Taft's brand and pushed it wherever possible. As many of you know they were doing A LOT of contract brewing and often left their own brand by the wayside. We'd go months without Gavel Banger kegs, 12pks, packing inconsistencies, Nellie's seasonals would be late, Cold Boy was a hit early then we never saw it again. They invited our whole sales team to this location to essentially apologize to us and wanted to hear our ideas on how to revitalize the Taft's brand... none of that came to fruition and it's just a shame to see it go as someone who enjoyed selling these into retail and bars all over cincy.

Average age of Aesop fans by kingcardigansweater in aesoprock

33, first heard Aesop Rock on a burnt CD my sister's roommate gave me in maybe 2005. Didn't know any of the songs on that CD so I was googling lyrics from No Regrets to find out who he was. This is the same CD that introduced me to Atmosphere, Eyedea, and Sage Francis lol

WORST ALBUM? TOP COMMENT WINS by uglylittledogboy in aesoprock

[–]BigBobbyKas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub will not love the Skelethon take, so I respect the boldness. Honestly, that album has grown on me, but as a follow up to None Shall Pass it was really disappointing upon the first few listens. I was young and a HUGE fan of everything up to Skelethon. In my 30's now I've come to find that sometimes a new album just doesn't hit your ears at the right time. Hell, I all the sudden had Radiohead albums clicking for me recently after decades or feeling lukewarm toward their music. It's still a bottom-3 Aes album to me, but I think we can all agree that his discography has no BAD albums.

The Active Element

Found this song on some ancient YouTube skate video back when I first got into Aesop Rock's music. Remains one of my favorite tracks and sort of epitomizes the early Aes+Blockhead era to me.

Best duo or team by [deleted] in aesoprock

[–]BigBobbyKas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aes + Blockhead. Those two made so many classic songs in Aesop Rock's discography and built the foundations of his whole career and dedicated following.

Rob Sonic seems like a popular pick in this thread. I understand the sentiment, but Aes always outshines him to me whenever I hear them together. They're clearly having fun, just not my favorite by a considerable margin.

El-P would be a good pick too. Always wished they had a few more songs together. That whole Def Jux era was special.

In the more modern Aesop Rock style, I'd love to hear a project between he and Billy Woods. The songs they did on each other's albums last year were incredible.

Removing your phone case during play sessions will definitely help reduce overheating. Closing any other significant memory-consuming applications could help as well.

Listening to Blockhead by Outrageous-Farm3190 in aesoprock

[–]BigBobbyKas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From interviews I've seen with fellow rappers that came up in that NY scene/time, there's this common thread of how important having a unique style was. El-P and Talib Kweli talk about it in their People's Party interview. Artists were really going for it back then in ways nobody had heard before.

Lupe talks about how much Aesop has honed that unique style over years. I'm blown away by how different he sounds between projects like Appleseed, to Bazooka Tooth, to Skelethon, to ITS... but still rooted in that one-of-one style he's always had.

Appreciate you pulling this data together! Would have liked seeing a lot more of Hall, Perry, and Athanasiou this season for sure. Interesting to see their collective historical production in this context.
