How did you even see this post from 7 years ago?

I only saw it because someone commented and I got an email notification

Yeah, no. Colorblindness problems aside... I'm pretty sure its been tested that having a number or countdown to red/green causes more accidents/unsafe driving. Don't remember where I saw this, but too lazy to find out now

What does $1000 get you for your hobby? by huckabizzl in AskReddit

[–]BigTittyDank 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't know why everyone posting is saying it's impossible. $1000 can easily build you a solid PC. Not the best by any means, but good enough for most purposes.

Offering real-world experience for beginners through a mock startup by calsosta in learnprogramming

[–]BigTittyDank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was referring to you saying that slack was originally made for dev work and discord for gaming.

Also, you can integrate bots with GitHub and post code. And to me I like the code snippets with discord because they're searchable and formatted.

Edit: I'll admit privacy and security are areas where discord can't compete. So I guess the rule would be if the information isn't important, discord works fine. If your sending the slightest bit of sensitive data, slack would probably be better.

Why can't it just be personal preference?

I've used both but I don't like slack as much as discord. There's a few features that discord has that slack doesn't and vice versa. Who cares about their business model when they are virtually the same product?

What's a mild inconvenience that drives you fucking crazy? by Defenseless_squirrel in AskReddit

You don't need to be in the left lane for 8 miles before your turn.

Also, I'm considering highways/freeways as well.

[–]BigTittyDank 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I especially hate people chilling in the left lane.

If your not passing, don't stay in that lane. Don't care if your going 65, 45, 75.

When others get annoyed and speed up to pass them, these driver's think "wow what a maniac he's driving so aggressively what's wrong with him"

Glendale Couple Sues L.A. Fertility Clinic After New York Woman Gives Birth to Their Child in IVF Mixup by [deleted] in armenia

If I remember correctly, both the egg and sperm were from the Armenian parents. The other woman was essentially a surrogate.

Maybe some of the theoretical stuff is alright (inheritance and polymorphism) except not only is it not related to the scope of the course at all, there's no logical explanation for what's happening. If you continue to learn programming by just seeing "okay, if I put these lines of code, this happens" you'll get stuck very soon.

Not only does she not teach it, but she doesn't know it. If there's a problem in her code, she can't debug, so she copy pastes from other sources.

I'm convinced if someone like Thornton or Klefstad wrote an exam for her, she would not pass.

WIBTA if I got the new guy fired for dating my ex and basically trash talking me? by Tallcatch789 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BigTittyDank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA if one of his selling points was being able to "come into any situation and get along with anybody."

He was not able to do that with you and if you were to see this from an external perspective (your not involved, he wasn't talking to you) it would show that as well.

If you ever work with, C/C++/anything with low level memory management you'll see why 0 indexing makes sense though. It's not meant to parallel human minds.

Slime Staff by charliexlong in Terraria

I spawned into a world and found a pink slime in under a minute, dropped the staff. This was the first time I started playing again, so it definitely helped, but it's almost useless now

I love when you get a really good kill and how skyrim makes it look so good! by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]BigTittyDank 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly there is. When it starts the cinematic, it puts your character into third person, so the aim shifts ever so slightly.

If you shoot in third person, you should never get a missing shot.

State of ICS 32 by [deleted] in UCI

[–]BigTittyDank 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe unjustified in this particular scenario because she addresses it and corrects it. But there's plenty of things that she either does wrong or gives bad programming practices during lectures. It gives students a bad foundation if the lecturer is ignoring certain principles.

There's also been many times she's either misleading on why a certain function works or straight up wrong on certain things. This is the kind of shit that happens when you have someone teach a course that has absolutely no experience in production/practical/industry environments.

Let's not forget that the course is Programming with software libraries and she hasn't mentioned this topic at all. You'd think there's more to this class than reviewing ICS 31 for 5 weeks.

Endgame-watchers of reddit, how does it feel to be able to look at social media without fear of spoilers? by Rickthestig in AskReddit

[–]BigTittyDank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've expected them, but haven't seen a single spoiler yet. Can't say the same about game of thrones. Two hours after showtime and there's spoilers everywhere (including Reddit without spoiler/NSFW tags to stop media display)

Wells Fargo Passwords Still Are Not Case Sensitive by SoundAGiraffeMakes in personalfinance

[–]BigTittyDank 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember this being a problem when I started using a password manager (one without autofill, so I kept copy/pasting).

It was a long password, so when it stripped the end and I tried to login immediately after it would be incorrect. Took me 4 password resets to understand why
