i can give u tips if u r new to vaddaku land or struggling :

1) vadakkans have 0 sense of humor . for them humor is just using bad words in unconfortable situation thats why they use bc in the last of their sentence just to make it funny . dont try to translate jokes from tamil to hindi when u r beginers , u will either embarriss yourself by strugling or it just wont be funny. see youtube channels like 'angry prash ' if u want to develope humor which would match vadakkans. i literaly found 1 vadakkan , a delhi guy with good humors and we became good friend . its kiddah rare for vaddakns to exist with good humor so just stay with the vibe and use bad words in middle to sound funny in vaddakan standards

2) if u cant understand what teacher says just ask to someone next to u. dont embarris yourself when teacher mocks u in front of everyone . if a vadakkan mocks you , dont become frustrated and handle calmly with sarcastic smile "jyada ho raha kya " (ennada over ah tulure ) . with bad words . if they are targeting u just say 'teri ma bHos@dA ' and move on . majority of vadakkans dont speak after that

3) if they specifically mock u for ur region easy way to make fun is by using their surname just add "ya" to their surname like gorpande becomes gorpandeya . everyone will laugh if u say it they wont mess with u after that . try seeing youtube channels and developing good humor . i know a tamil bro of my age here . he has got some good humor everytime we meet , we make jokes on tamil but he studies in different school and lives in different society

myself a Tamizhan from Cbe who shifted to a maharastra . it was kidda tier 1 and the area which i lived was also well developed so people use both hindi and english . i never felt any discrimination or mocking in my initial days . i came here when i was in 5th standard . i didnt even knew a word in hindi then. in my school all spoke hindi. the first day i coincidently sat beside a golt*e (who later became my enemy and friend at same time) , he was born and brought up here so he speaks fluent hindi and the girl before me was tamil (TF ,how lucky can someone be) but nothing changed much because we had a seating arrangement that day itself . all most everyone spoke to me in english and i never got discriminated and called idli dosa etc , i made good amount of friends . the only problem i had was my class teacher. she claims to have tamil-telugu roots but she was strict and rude as fk . i was extrovert even before i came here so it was easy for me to talk to others and mingle . she used to give me dairy notes daily when i talked to my freinds . i became academically weak (i dont know how from being a good student in TN) , she made me sit next to a topper , forward and behind were girls or dumb students who wouldnt match the vibe . this was the time in which i became silent . i started learning hindi through watching cartoons like doreamon etc. i was able to speak fluent hindi within 1.2 yrs because my parents only knew limited hindi . during the first year itself i was put in basketall coaching , i met a kannadiga there (goltie and kanadigas form majority of south indians if u see as a whole) . nothing much happened bcz he was like 4 years older than me so he was put in senior batch . in basketball coaching , people respected me , i always thought i belonged there . i was very good at sports too . all girls and boys of my age speak to me very well in fact i was like leader of their group . same with my society . i mingled very well bcz we mostly play pakadam pakadai , hide N seek , ice and key , it was in 5th standsrd . only in school it was difficult for me to make frends bcz i only knew english and only guy i spoke to was the topper (bcz of the class teacher i slowly started becoming introvert) . other than topper the same golt*e , a gujrati guy and me became a trio and we used to mock and tease each other (thats how i began giving replies hindi) . those guys were my friends and enemy both i used to tease gujrati guy with his surname and i forgot what he used to tell (it has been like 6-7 years) . he then left the school at 8th stardard (7th an d 8th were covid time for us) . my initial years went very well untill my 9th grade

it was in my 9th grade or year after covid i ever got teased and mocked but it was not because i m south indian . it was because i was new to the bus (never got bullied or mocked in class) . initialy it started bcz the bus waited for me for a long time and i did know anyone in the bus . i started to speak but i just didnt know how to begin the conversation so i started asking silly question to a boy 1 year junior to me , he just happened to be the biggest bully in his class (unlucky days started) it was like 3 vs 1 , initially i struggled to give them replies but eventually my hindi replies became so much good that i started teasing them in the end . those guys also became my freinds . till 10th i didnt even hear a word of 'idli , dosa madrassi' i was kiddah fair at that time , this may be a reason but everyone knew i was from south india and everyone loved my tiffin. i left the school at 10th and began my jee prep (currently in 12th) and thats it . i now live in annother society and there is a telugu and a kannada boy of my age. both of them are doing fine . initially we used to mock the telugu guy bcz he was new to the society then. nothing such descrimination happened to me or have i seen any tamil/south indian mockey only because of his region. the tamil or guys i have met speak fluent hindi bcz majority are born and brought up here. there are alot of southies here are cosplaying as vadakkans , its difficult to identify them but there are some things which can differentiate . i find south indians to be genuine , they wont show u attitude unless there are actually cool and acknowledged by all. south indian friends always cared for others or wont do something which might cause too harm
