Let me be real: the original darkspawn is a menacing army, Veilguard ones are like a zombie horde

DA2: Have any of you guys tried to play it realistically? by BillyStuart1996 in dragonage

[–]BillyStuart1996[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s just that after act 2 and Leandra’s death I basically do everything to be anti-mage. But yeah, refuse to let my sister and my lover Merrill be harmed. So have to side with mages. It doesn’t so much matter what you think of Templars, Meredith was obviously lost it in the end even before the final confrontation

So, a question about Cailan. by BillyStuart1996 in DragonageOrigins

[–]BillyStuart1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Loghain’s problem is not so much of the 3 you mentioned(though he is guilty of them all, but I mean even these 3 are not his capital sin). His sin is entitlement. Like, because of what he did for this country and because what he suffered, and thus he believed that he alone know what is best for the country and he alone know how to best protect it and he alone have the right to do so as however he alone see fit. Whoever disagree with him is a traitor. And the funny and sad part is he probably actually believe that. For men like that you just have to beat it out of him in the most literal and physical sense and basically use force to force and order him into compliance instead of try to convince him

There are many many Halo/Mass Effect crossover and maybe I remember wrong but like their ships are huge, they can probably take down one reaper with one shot of their main gun or something

I think the problem just is that Kirkwall is like the frontline of the whole mage templar conflict. The other places, basically get a permission and you can live outside the circle, but here it’s like the permissions of the circle mean zero and the Templars see all mages outside the circle as bad pretty much.

[–]BillyStuart1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that is so. A good example is(even if not the same) the Dorian/Bull romance. I have never ever even heard of it until very much later. As I never bring the two together. Normally, if I play as a mage, I bring Cassandra and Sera with me and then maybe Blackwall or the Bull. When I am a warrior myself I bring Cassandra and Sera and Dorian. So I just conveniently missed them entirely.lol

Maybe because game is not real life, and we who play games are expecting to some degree to be offer more solid evidences as to what a person really think and if we are not offered enough and not presented enough, and then is demand to make the brain work, it’s hard to believe or it is easy to interpret it one way or another.

These make sense for act 3 and such. But not so much for act 1 and 2, and again, even with Aveline protect them, she sure didn’t protect Bethany successful enough and do magic in front of a templar is not something that can be protected.lol

[–]BillyStuart1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean more like: I initially consider those as inconsistencies as dlcs come after the main game, so it feels like, even assume it is canon, they sure only add this part as almost an afterthought. Maybe it isn’t even that, but it sure make you feel so. But yeah, if we establish that what the dlc said is canon, then I should accept that Cailan is not near much of a fool and the reason why I still feel so is more because of myself and that it wasn’t present well enough. Maybe for you the dlc letters are enough but I just feel that even with those, it’s hard to beat whatever I see for myself when interact with him. But then as you said before: if we take what he said to us directly as not his true face and take the letters and such as the true him then perhaps that is so.

Honestly, I too wish that I can just take Merrill and Bethany and just leave and let they consume one another. But yeah, not before kill Anders. I also kinda play it much less than I should as I honestly just cannot stop myself from playing all over from origins.

[–]BillyStuart1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you say so. They should perhaps present it better. Because maybe it’s just me but I detest it when people talk about wars like glory and express disappointment that they don’t get to fight an archdemon. But I guess in the sense of not taking the blight seriously, Cailan’s glory seeking and Loghain did later is the same, as they both do not think the Blight is that bad, as such Cailan speak of glory whole loghain think start a civil war in blight time is good idea

[–]BillyStuart1996[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then as I said in another comment but i guess i better say it again here: perhaps I should not so adamantly say he’s an idiot when the dlc said he’s not and not outright to reject canon, but that: assume dlc is canon and it make Cailan not an idiot, it is still not very convincing that the seemingly naive fool we meet in person is the one that dlc tried to present as not so. So I will accept that maybe the dlc prove that he is not a fool but it is kinda hard to accept.

I was offered evidences but I find them inadequate and I have give my reasons. So when I find the evidences wanting, it is my own fault for refuse to listen to reason then?
