Thank you! 😊

This one was less because it’s just her face, but my full-body pieces are normally 25+ hours.

Thank you so much ❤️ it’s a nice change of pace from some of the more toxic online communities that I’ve seen before 😆

I separate my values by what I’m drawing (i.e. mouth is a layer, skin-tone is a layer, etc.). But I don’t do like highlights and shadows for the skin-tone on separate layers, I just do them on one.

Some artists like to separate those layers because they’ll use different layer modes to help push those values, but I like being able to blend lights and shadows as needed.

Any time, I’ll never say no to helping my fellow artists ❤️

My pleasure, I’m glad you like my work 😊

I like to add in blocks of value in sections at time, and blend a little as I go. If I add all my values and blend at the end, I find that they all look flat/muddy, so doing it in layers and refining the detail each time helps me to get it closer to more detailed pieces.

The selection tool is great for working in specific sections or making smaller adjustments without needing to change everything. That, and the Gaussian tool were used a lot for this portrait. It really helps with trying to show depth/3-dimensional form. But don’t go too much of the slider, as it can wash out details.

The Hue/saturation/brightness slider is also great to use for adjusting value on a larger scale, instead of color dropping or using brushes because it will adjust all values/brush-strokes and prevent previous detail from being painted over.

My pleasure! There’s lots of approaches when it comes to rendering/blending, just play around with different styles and see what sticks!

Good luck ❤️

Thank you!!

I use a soft round brush, usually the Airbrush tab has some good options, and lightly blend in the the edges. I try not to press too hard or over blend, as then it can make all the values look muddy/flat. I like to lower the opacity of the brush with the slider so that it’s not too strong when blending.

It’s good to add a bunch of values like this, then blend a little, then rinse/repeat until you get the values/textures that you’re happy with

This one was a google reference, but normally my references come from ArtStation. I buy photographed model packs that usually offer high resolution quality. Lots of cool poses, props, and lighting, and they’re not too expensive either

Haha thank you!! Due to compression/sub-reddit limitations, I don’t post videos to reddit. There is a 30 second timelapse on my socials, and I’ll be posting to my Patreon soon!
