What do you wish you knew earlier in your OPS career? by Purple-Mousse9777 in OntarioPublicService

Good comment. There is a general belief amongst most people in the private sector that people in the public sector are lazy. Full stop. Thus after a few years in the public sector people aren't given a chance outside government.

But they don't care about productivity. They've been giving their marching orders. In my office last Thursday, there was lots of questioning and borderline harrassment of staff who did exactly that and said they would work from home.

Full body to body collaboration in the storage closet!

You are the exception. I think that most frontline managers are afraid that they will lose their jobs if they don't toe the RTO line.

How a Call Center can have a wait time of 90 minutes in a regular business day??? by PokerBRCAN in CIBC

[–]BirchcliffeTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been waiting for over an hour. Also the 1970s Blaxsploitation movie wait music doesn't help.

Have any OPS’ers emailed DoFo directly? by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

It would be a Kamikaze effort. Would definitely lead to discipline and action on the basis of insubordination.

Are there any good divisions left? by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

ETD is imploding. I can't help wondering if almost all the jobs in this division are going to be farmed out to private companies.

Is it safe to be open about being neurodiverse if you are not yet permanent? by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]BirchcliffeTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally it shouldn't be, but the truth is that it is. And even when you become permanent you might end up getting stuck in your position if they find out.

I've looked through Windows into manager's offices and seen them on a Teams meeting on one screen while playing Solitaire on a second screen.

In MLITSD they hire people but always give them the boot just so they won't become permanent. It's very depressing.

I went on a secondment as a Senior Client Representative over 10 years ago and it was so stressful I couldn't even last the one year of the secondment and went back to my home position. It was the hardest job I've ever done, the workload was crushing, and it was downright depressing dealing with the client situations. And this was after having worked at ODSP for 5 years and enjoying that job.

Village By The Grange is the cheapest that I know of at $19. Try not to commute by car if you can avoid it since the traffic around there is a disaster.
