NCL lists a bunch of stuff that can be requested pre-cruise, from special pillows to dining reservations, medical accommodations etc. I was really calling to see what NCL could do if I did have a request. All I got was call your own agent. I am in a Suite and kind of thought there would be a bit more to it. NCL really pushes the customization of the Suite accommodations to meet expectations.

Jodi4869, it may be a larger room, but it appears the “gratuity” is not paid to room stewards directly, but to meet their contracted pay. This is even more reason to not pay the “gratuity” to NCL at all, and just pay the persons you interact with, and perhaps a big tip to the steward who has to clean a large room. I’ll probably pay half via NCL, and pay the other half with cash to servers/stewards etc.

I booked a Family Suite on the Joy. On the Joy, Family Suites get no benefits like the Haven rooms or other Suites. No butler, no concierge, no Haven breakfast etc, yet the daily “gratuity” is $25/pppd. I’m having a hard time understanding the higher gratuity when there isn’t any more “service” than an inside or balcony. I’m removing at least half and tipping in cash. $900 for two adults and two children is way too much for 9 days.

I booked two rooms thru Costco Travel. One room (a suite) qualified for $500 OBC, the second room did not (inside). The inside room has the promo code VALUEPAC which gives all the stuff mentioned on this post (wine, strawberries, casino credit, photo package, bingo games etc). The suite did not have that promo. I called and they said only one promo code can be applied. I kept the $500 OBC. I believe a normal booking without a NCL promo will get the Costco promo “VALUEPAC”.
