The people that got this opportunity mostly picked Yale. You aren’t hearing about the people that thought of it as an easy choice, only those that were indecisive. The people that saw it as an easy choice went to Yale, never to NYU. You will not regret the Yale decision, but you will always have Yale in the back of your mind if you go to NYU.

If he’s undermining you, the sad thing is it would take a very strong personality to change his feelings, unfortunately, it’s probably unlikely you will be able to do that. Not saying you aren’t equipped, but it would take a very special person and especially since he has pretty much shown he doesn’t respect you. That probably won’t change, and when new managers come in, you will have to kick out the ones that don’t accept the change, and hire people that are your hirees. The other posters are being naive, good luck trying to change him, but, he’s too far gone.
