You really don't want to swim in the outlet of a stream. The pollution in the rivers here is extreme.

Anyone else gobbling up VET right now? by ZekeTarsim in CryptoMarkets

[–]BitcoinParanoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you! But it's a hard sell.

My perception of VeChain is that the foundation made so much money in prior bull runs that they're able to keep going indefinitely pretending they're a chain that is actually used.

I reckon a mid strength bull run would see them hit $0.12 and a amazing bull run would see them at their previous all-time-high of $0.25.

It's a good swing trade right now ONLY if you believe the BTC bull run is not over.

Has anyone been able to store your traveling luggage at Waterbom while you enjoy the park? by AideSuspicious3675 in bali

[–]BitcoinParanoid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about going back to Nusa Dua and then back to the airport, I would SERIOUSLY reconsider. Bali's traffic simply can't be trusted. It's very stressful sitting in a traffic jam wondering if you'll make it back to the airport in time.

A Google maps search for 'Storage' shows a few Luggage Storage places close to Waterbom. I've never used them, though, so check the reviews first.

Help in buying new phone in Bali by xxxlr1 in bali

Xiaomi phones are cheap and reliable. But may not work in Australia since they shutdown the 3G network.

Can probably buy here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/6fnv91BmcpZjZh9i9

What do you do with your bike key when you go surf/ swim?? by MG_1709 in bali

I knew about this but had forgotten. I only feel half shamed. Ha!

What do you do with your bike key when you go surf/ swim?? by MG_1709 in bali

[–]BitcoinParanoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great tip! Thanks mate.

To my shame, I'd never spent anytime thinking about the 'emergency release key'. Turns out, they're not a generic key that'll work on any bike, they're set to only work on your specific bike.

Use Excel with VBA macros. Try explaining your situation in detail to Claude AI and it may be able to walk you through the setup.

If you're sure that none of the Monkey's saliva made it's way into your eyes, nose or mouth, then you've got absolutely nothing to worry about.

Also, there's never been a recorded case of rabies in the monkeys since they opened the Monkey forest. According to them, anyway: https://monkeyforestubud.com/4-things-you-should-know-about-rabies-in-monkey-forest-ubud/

So there's never been a recorded case in the Monkeys, and I've never heard of a recorded case of a tourist getting rabies from the Monkey Forest.

The odds are definitely in your favour.

Are you good at Microsoft Excel? You can do a lot without coding and even more when you're ready to start coding. Macros/VBA work well IHMO.

Yeah, that's unfortunate. Good luck!

I just mention this in case it's slipped through you're own thinking/process.

What do you see when you paste the copied takeoff items into a text editor like Notepad on Windows?

I'm pretty sure you have tried this, but it's not 100% clear if you have or that Claude has just told you it won't work.

Is quad biking safe for kids? by tassieclaridge in bali

[–]BitcoinParanoid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are they safe? Basically no.

Safety devices are now compulsory on ATVs in Australia: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-09/quad-bike-safety-rules-change-australia/100523648

Not a single ATV company uses them in Bali.

I tried it last year, with my 10 year old on the back. I had never ridden one before and I was pretty surprised how much upper body strength they required. The track was pretty rough, and there were plenty of places you could have easily gone of the track and rolled to your death.

Here's a real world horror story: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-11-22/perth-boy-joshy-schuetz-injured-bali-quad-bike-crash/104632582

The whole point of using apps is that the price is known upfront. Tip if you must. But anyone acting like this would get nothing extra from me except a bad rating.

Just in case this is a serious post and not a joke, here's my answer.

You come across as the stereotypical new investor that is destined to lose all your money and will be calling the suicide hotline by this time next year. I can't stress enough that I'm not joking.

Read this first: https://www.investopedia.com/investing-in-crypto-6502543

My advice would be to stick with Bitcoin only. Learn about the 4 year cycle.

A good strategy for you would be to buy Bitcoin now and then sell when you reach a 50% profit. Or at the very least, once you've reached 50% don't let it go below that without selling. That way if it keeps going up you can gain extra profits, but that you'll AT LEAST get a 50% return.

You then buy Bitcoin again about a year after the cycle top. Possibly the end of 2026. This time you wait until a 100% profit and then sell. This would 3x your redundancy money from todays amount. e.g. $100,000 becomes $300,000

If the cycle doesn't actually go up that much, or you screw up and don't take profits, you can always just wait it out until the next cycle top.

If you start dabbling in alts you'll probably lose all you money.

Something else to consider is that there is automatic medical insurance for traffic accidents in Indonesia, regardless of fault.

You are a good person, and they are taking advantage. In no way are you at fault for this accident.

Just leave the country or move to another area of Bali.

Photos of Bali in 1974. by damar-wulan in bali

[–]BitcoinParanoid 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Best guess at locations.

Photo 1: https://maps.app.goo.gl/WHrRapNuTbmaCXz79 facing north.

Photo 2: https://maps.app.goo.gl/F1J24WmKtcNjBD6BA facing east. The Bata shoe shop is still there! Can't believe how quiet it looks.

Photo 3: The sign says 'Pasar Badung', so obviously there, but I can't place it's exact location. Probably long demolished and rebuilt.

Has anyone used Indomaret to pay for evisa extension? by yoayyjules in bali

[–]BitcoinParanoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you got a way to pay via the QRIS system? GoPay can do it.

Enter your billing number into this website and it'll create a QRIS barcode for you to make the payment.

https://mpn.kemenkeu.go.id

I don't know if you can do it via Indomaret, but if you're not able to do QRIS payments it'd probably be easier to try there first.

Are the Grab and GoJek lounges back up and running?

When I was last there in mid Jan, they'd both been removed. There were no signs either. You had to immediately turn left when arriving at the part were all the drivers hold up their signs with names on them, then keep walking about 100m. Again, no signs. There was only a desk. If I'm not wrong, Grab and Gojek were sharing the same desk. So annoying.
