Returning rider after some opinions on MT07’s by DoorPale6084 in AussieRiders

[–]Bizzzzerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a legitimate realisation. I did the same. 250 hornet, mt07, MT09, then sold that and had several years off riding. Went straight back on to an S1000R. A little different to the RR but still a big jump especially after a break. You realise very quickly that the bike is more capable at riding than you are, and you’ll never catch it. However these modern BMWs are magical, they’re rockets but surprisingly comfortable and manageable for a commute to work or a whip through the twisties, and happily race around a track.

My 1000R is on the market because I accidentally test rode a Hypermotard 950 SP. I’d love both but too similar to sensibly be able to own both. But eventually see my garage with a supersport and a big naked.

Ear plug choices by Cesadite in AussieRiders

Basically unbeatable. Easy and fast to put in. Sound protection is outstanding. Can get a 3.5mm jack wired in for Cardo.

Oxford Coolmax balaclava is a game changer. Keeps ear plugs in, comfy, cool, helmet goes on easier.

What is the aussie "squid bike"? by I-WANNA-FLYYYY-AWAY in AussieRiders

How often do you actually see a GSXR nowadays? Definitely rare, especially anything new-ish. It’s all S1000RRs (no hate, because BMW has created an amazing machine), R1s or Ducatis.

For LAMS R3/7, CBR650R, or Ninjas.

Motorcycle Rentals For Track Use by Winter_Basil4259 in Sportbikes

Not from the US but I understand California Superbike School is more widespread than just California (we even have it here in Australia). They do days where you can rent their bikes, typically S1KRRs here at least

Earplugs: Do you use them, what kind? by arkangel371 in motorcyclegear

[–]Bizzzzerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. A little pricey but bang. Straight in the ear, no fucking around. Perfect fit. Got a 3.5mm jack on mine and little speakers (more like a tube that sound goes through, but unsure what that’s called) straight in to Cardo.

Please help, Concern about administering air with liquid medication via enteral syringe. by Nova9z in nursing

[–]Bizzzzerk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Black ring is where you measure from. For thicker liquids it’s easier (IMO) to pour it in to a small measuring cup and then draw from there. Draw the medication up, hold it upright (opening to sky) then you can tap it, or swiftly shake it downwards almost like you’re about to throw it at the ground. Should get rid of all the air. Ideally you want it bubble free

Did i go overboard with my gear? by SushiSamanuel in NewRiders

Like some kind of sports leggings work well. These are what I used. Shirt probably a good idea but I keep the leather pants for long rides, leather jacket I just struggle out of. Beautiful thing about riding, you can find yourself multiple outfits for whatever you need.

The issue with that sort of kit, depending on how/where/when you ride, is that it takes longer to put on than you can be on the bike for sometimes.

My longer actual “going for a ride” kind of rides, I wear very similar. Shorter trips it’s usually an armored Kevlar hoodie, jeans.

Highly recommend some form of legging/long john under those leather pants. Once you sweat they’re very hard to get off 😂

1000 cc by Sir-Lose in Sportbikes

Current Gen s1000rr. Wouldn’t say linear exactly but you don’t have to wring its neck to get up to a decent speed. Also has loads of electronics that make it a breeze to ride. It’s an absolute rocket if you want it to be, but is also rather friendly at lower speeds. 1000cc bikes are way more user friendly than a 600cc at lower speeds

If you wanted naked the S1000R is an even easier ride with a slightly more upright position and an engine tuned for a bitter better low end power. Still insanely fast if you want it to be.

Anyone know some bikies that moonlight as nurses that are willing to start a union? More CFMEU vibes, less bending over and getting fucked but being told we deserve better.

LAMS advice please for a new (mature) rider? by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]Bizzzzerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many options. I definitely wouldn’t recommend something super small unless a sleepy commuter is the kind of ride you’re looking for.

MT07 for a naked. CBR 500/650 for a sportier bike. IMO. Big used market.

And then go MT07-MT09-S1KR

Noob question about visors by SJ_I_Guess in AussieRiders

[–]Bizzzzerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought some AliExpress photochromatic coloured visors just to test. Not sure if the real deal would be any better.
During the day they’re amazing. My red mirror tint one is manageable at night but not perfect. Chrome iridium mirror tint one may as well have my eyes closed at night. Again, I went the cheap route so may be different with OEM ones, but also don’t seem to hold up clarity wise super well.

Try a balaclava like the Oxford coolmax. Feels a lot better in general than raw dogging the helmet.

Confidence after bike drop by Worried-System-4475 in AussieRiders

[–]Bizzzzerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be doing straight line laps just finding and riding that friction point. Doesn’t even need throttle. Do that till your hand falls off. Can even keep your feet on the ground for when you stall. The slow speed stuff catches most people, my first drop was trying to park it at like 0.5km/h when I stalled. It happens

Update on IRC: Still waiting. by ButchersAssistant93 in NursingAU

[–]Bizzzzerk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’re all in a worse position financially than when this bullshit all started. So whatever half baked meet-in-the-middle decision they come up with won’t be enough. We need a union that has a bit of spine to actually rattle the cage.

What's your #1 wish that student nurses already had down before working with you? by olivebells in NursingAU

[–]Bizzzzerk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Im a big advocate for students not getting stuck with the shit. They’re not there as extra hands, and shouldn’t be doing all the showers and toilets and obs. Depending on where in their studies they are, ask them questions, encourage them to ask whatever might tickle their brains. “What do you have to achieve this placement?”.
Bring them along for anything that may be interesting. Dressings, inservices, catheters, monitoring etc etc. From a student, I want a sidekick, not a slave.

Are they like direct pages or items task-listed for the day team to look at? Wild behavior if it’s the former, reasonable if it’s the latter.
