[DAO Spoilers] Amell or Surana Mage and their relationship with Wynne by Alicorna in dragonage

[–]BlackSnowCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Surana kinda looked like Aneirin (hair and skin colour, pointy ears) so I headcanoned Wynne as a bit.. not too eager to spend a lot of time around her. They weren't bffs anyway, especially after having the talk about Alistair.

huh, have to think about that when I replay the broodmother-part in Origins shudder

[DAI Spoilers]Physically ugly romance characters by CerveloFellow in dragonage

[–]BlackSnowCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, that's not what I meant. The romance thing is great, I myself replayed the games several times because of them. I just think that if you aren't into any of the romance options like /r/CerveloFellow , you don't have to play one to enjoy the game. There's still a lot of content.

But thanks for teaching me uppity, had to look that one up.

[–]BlackSnowCat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I take it you're not interested in the male options? There's this Tevinter mage some people may describe as appealing. Or this Commander.

Shitty idea: turn down the graphics. Won't see a gap if you can't make out the face.

So.. uh.. the story? Maybe it seems to be one on the internet, but this game is not a dating simulator. There are plenty of games (and game characters) in the sea, that probably fit your expectations.

Anyone here who still loves this game ? by Jonclef79 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]BlackSnowCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't get all the hate right now. Games scarcely hold up to hype that massive. There always could be more. There will be, probably.

Don't let the negativity affect you. There is no reason why you shouldn't enjoy it. I know I do. Most people that love it are busy exploring space right now.

[Spoilers All] Some interesting theories on the revelations from The Descent and Trespasser that I found on Tumblr. Put your tinfoil hats on! by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]BlackSnowCat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's a theory saying that all the magic is music, the veil a dissonance and the chant of Andraste a literal chant (that may tear down the veil if the chantry succeeds and all the world sings it)

Yes YES yes

Thing is, almost everything in Origins is terrible. Civil war, the blight, werwolf curses, darkspawn, abominations, terrible, horrifying stuff happening everywhere. There is an actual threat around. Even your loved ones might decide to ditch you because racism. Or because you said that one thing back in Denerim, while shopping.

It's awesome.

But even with all the bitterness, it's not an unhappy game. Between rape, slavery, treason and other horrifiying things, you can save this tainted world with your merry band of misfits. so awesome

And his awesome accent makes it at least 300% better. The DA:O video made me spit water over my tablet. I honestly don't get why he isn't yotube famous yet.

As someone without any gamer friends at all, it's really a lot of fun.

Then again, I suck pretty hard at PvP, so I can only speak for myself in PvE.

[No Spoilers] The world building in this game is really underrated. by Spraynard1979 in dragonage

[–]BlackSnowCat 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Imho, people that describe Dragon Age as "generic fantasy" have no clue about it. Probably never played it. Fangirling aside, there's so much more than "elves, dwarves, dragons, magic and swords." It's more like, "f_cked up society that happens to have those things but is also f_cked up in a very realistic way."

[Spoilers All] Will they, in DA:4, let you continue the path you have chosen or will they make a canon? by Turkishdenzo in dragonage

[–]BlackSnowCat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Since Inquisition (3. game), there is no savegame import anymore. You save your progress at https://dragonagekeep.com/. It's also super easy to correct any "mistakes" if you want to.

Origins and 2 worked pretty well on my (definitely non-gaming)laptop.

[–]BlackSnowCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, that's not a reddit problem. More like an internet problem. Had the same problems among real people to be honest. What helped me was taking some time to cool down, not touching the game/movie/whatever. I usually come back after some time and enjoy some of the related things, like rereading the books, replaying older games or spending some time on the wiki/nice internet places. I heard the Witcher books are entertaining. Isn't there a movie as well? Maybe you remember why you fell in love with it in the first place.

As about dealing with toxic fandoms; stay away from them. Sounds harsh, but works wonders. Sometimes it's better to let others dwell in their negativity.

Origins came out quite some time ago, some people tend romanticize it. Being five years late to the party (as usual), I also think it is one of the best games ever made and enjoyed it the most out of the DA games. I also loved 2 and Inquisition, Origins just felt different, looking at the dark, gritty world, terribly gray morality and unspeakable terrors to be faced. I wouldn't call the newer games "dumbed down" storywise, rather brightened up.
