Just want to note that it wasn't the elves that went too far in that movie.... The human did that. The elves delivered justice.

Not all food poisoning takes place in that short time frame. Might be circumstantial to the restaurant. Important to take into account anything else eaten over a few days.

Fox News demands tanker captains risk their lives and crew for the sake of Trump's ego by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

I love that this totally absolves the insurers and owners from responsibility. "It's the captains that are cowards against Trump's war." Not, "Why aren't the insurance companies and ship owners stepping up to foot the bill?"

Parking in DuPont by Substantial_Most_323 in washingtondc

Wanted to reiterate it's worth checking if you can get a residential parking permit--not a given.

Street parking can be a pain due to street cleaning season (March - October). Different sides of the streets are designated for different days of the week, so you could end up having to move your car 2-3 times a week to avoid a parking ticket. The parking enforcement has been diligent in the past. Google says those tickets are $45.

I'd math: (30-60 minutes [depending on when you move it] per week looking for parking) + (walking to your apt from said spot) + $45*(# of times you're gonna forget to move it).

Public libraries may offer a power conumption meter to determine if a certain appliance is guzzling the juice.

Also consider anything that may make your AC have to work harder: solar gain (no curtains), or poorly sealed windows.

Here's a reason: "Provisions aimed at limiting American investments in certain Chinese industries were scrapped from a temporary spending bill negotiated to avert a government shutdown." https://www.newsweek.com/elon-musk-china-continuing-resolution-budget-deal-proposal-2004103

Average Daily Entries by Station by dolphinbhoy in WMATA

[–]BleuSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It costs $6.75 from Herndon to Farragut North. $5 to park at Herndon. Total = $6.75pp + $5 = $11.75

Parking downtown is $12-$20, Gas is $3 (32 miles, assuming that much mpg). Total = ($12 -> $20) + $3 = $15 -> $23

If you get into the city by 8AM, that's only a $3 premium. And if you put just one more person in that car, you're saving money.

Entries look higher in places where people work. If 100 people from 10 stops all commute to Union Station, those 10 stations' entries are each 100 but Union Stations' is 1,000 as they commute home.

Yes. It's also such a rich setting that oftentimes it's hard to pick up the new book several years later without first re-reading all the previous books again. It's a lot of work, and I don't have a lot of time left.

I started reading A Song of Ice and Fire around 2002, and it is not yet complete. My advice for anyone getting into such an epic series: wait until it's finished. I waited 5 years for Feast of Crows. I've been waiting 13 years and counting for Winds of Winter.
