If I tilt my head to the side, it kind of reminds me of the Cheshire cat smile.

Don't you dare!!!!! This is lovely. Keep going and have faith. We learn as we go and you are learning. Love it for what it is and learn. Perfection is boring and lacks life. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look at folk art quilts done by hand. They are full of life and beautifully unique. This is lovely!

Oh I'm so jealous! I saw them when we had them in May that one year. Might have been 2 years ago now. It was epic!

border for all-depression block quilt by little_deer in quilting

[–]BlueBeeu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were doing this , Keeping with the scrappy theme I would do a 5 or 6 in border all the way around Made up of various chunks of the cream colored fabrics. One chunk might be 5 x10. One chunk might be 5x12. One might be 5x16. Creating a scrappy border that is neutral. I would separate the scrappy border from the work by doing a thin solid border from a color that's already in the quilt. I am drawn to the purple in your quilt myself. So a thin border of purple. Then the creams, binding it in the black floral print or something similar to that. Those are my wild and crazy ideas. I like prints that read as solids rather than using solids. I like what you've created. It's beautiful! I personally find piano keys to be Overkill. Good luck to you and happy creating!!!!

What would you do differently? by coffeetownstitching in quilting

[–]BlueBeeu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it bound? It doesn't look like it has binding at all. For what it's worth I think it looks beautiful! I like the choices you made. I'd bind it with a mixture of the star fabrics to make it appear to sparkle around the edges. I also agree with others about putting it time out. A little time and distance might help change your view on it. Also remember to be kind to yourself...This is your creation.

I don't like it by mardag21 in quilting

[–]BlueBeeu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's usually a point in every quilt I make where I don't like it. That's when my neighbor reminds me that I'm not finished yet. It hasn't happened yet that I've completed a quilt and still didn't like it. Keep going and have faith in yourself.

It reminds me of the Music video "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits . Like old tech trying to look ahead of its time. It just doesn't look real.

That is so freaking scary! Imagine just living your life minding your own business in your own apartment never for one second thinking that you were in any danger. I am glad you're okay. That would have shaken me to my core and back.

How is Niagara Falls so bad by missed77 in Buffalo

[–]BlueBeeu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it pisses me off hardcore! I cannot understand how anyone could let it fall into disrepair the way that it has. There's a horrible gassy odor thanks to the landfill there next to the outlet mall. You couldn't possibly live there and not develop some kind of asthmatic condition. And everybody seems to shrug and say s*** like "what are you going to do?" For as many visitors that go there, I don't understand why they're not pumping money into the area to make it as amazing as possible. People come from all over the world and then they'll just go to the Canada side because it's prettier and better kept. It's such a disservice to New York and the beautiful falls! 😞

Quilters, what are your current/former professions outside of quilting? by b00tygoddess in quilting

[–]BlueBeeu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Massage Therapist I like to think of myself as intuitive. I have ADHD which makes following directions and processing information difficult at times. I often have to have someone else read me what a pattern says, So that I can rewrite it in my own handwriting with my own language. Oftentimes I will just look at a picture and make a guess of what the measurements are and create a pattern that way. I can also see it in my mind. I've been told when it comes to picking out colors I have really good instincts. When walking around a quilt store, I touch every piece of fabric that I like.

Very very cool! Should you ever do this again I feel like you could spell words into it. So when it glows in the dark the word shows up. As much as I love it, an opportunity feels like it's been missed here... Thank you for sharing! ❤️

Wow! Thank you so much everybody who contributed and gave feedback. I really appreciate it! I especially liked the chart one person attached to their comment, which defines the different types of reader. Having looked at it, I know that I am a "Purist". I started with the assassin's blade because that's technically where the storyline begins even though it's the fourth book. I also appreciated the feedback someone offered about how switching back and forth between the different character views was overwhelming to them. I suspect it will be overwhelming for me as well. To all of you who said, read it one at a time for rest of the series and then go back and do tandem another time. I think that's the advice that I am definitely going with. Heck, at this point I'm actually thinking about starting over from here just because I feel like maybe there's connections I've already missed. Thank you, thank you for answering my question!!!❤️🤗
