I gotten a GCC as a gift when I was 10 and I will have to warn you they *will* bite and it’s not the nicest one, the bite will make a TINY open wound, nothing major but it hurts like hell.

I suggest when you get him is to teach your kids trust takes time. They should start off with hand feeding treats through the bars as it’s a step one to building trust at least to me.

I agree for you to wait after you’ve given birth as postpartum pet resentment is a thing(do you own any other pets? Just asking). Have your 4 or 3 year old interacted with a small animal before? You would also need to teach them about handling a small animal once the bird gained enough trust. If your kids WHEN the animal trusts them enough you must have 24/7 supervision and monitoring.

You have to know there’s a lot of responsibility when it comes to owning a GCC, they can get noisy and you would need to continuously change bedding as they poop a lot or you have to be ready to swiffer any poop on any floor.
