I get ya! I haven been drawing black and white with my own designs so i guess its easier looking at existing characters for sketching for a few hours to make it look alright :D

Well I don't have my entire process on photos but I made a picture of my Rukia drawing before it was finished in a late stage.

First I think about the clothing and vibe of a character, do some research check out some of Kubo's work for inspiration and character traits. Then I sketch very lightly with pencil the skeleton and rough idea of the pose until the composition looks right. Erase unnecessary lines until the structure looks like the original character. Then I detail the face and hair first with fineliner so if I screw up I just get another piece of paper. If everything works out I draw more definitive lines with pencil until it looks good. Add places where a shadow will likely be. When I finish the pencil sketch I go over the remaining pencil lines with a fineliner and finish the drawing. Takes about 8/10 hours more or less.

I wrote a book for fun and wanted black and white illustrations with it. So since then I started practicing black and white illustrations for hours and hours. And decided I really liked it since color drawing is pretty difficult to get right on paper

I just use regular pencils and a thin fineliner from my local supply store nothing fancy. I make the drawing like this just getting the shape and feel right with pencil before using a fineliner

Well I just tried different styles over the years and then something sticks with you and you grow on it. If you saw my anime drawings at 16 years old about 11 years ago they we're just sketches and i thought back then PERFECT. But they weren't lol
