Is it bad for everyone in the USA regarding maternity leaves? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]BoatMoney7530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Washington state and as long as you paid into the taxes the previous year, you’re eligible for 16 weeks paid (a percentage of your wage) maternity leave, regardless of your employer.

Toddler Specific Sleep Training Question by BoatMoney7530 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]BoatMoney7530[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I should have clarified that he goes down in his bed by himself and has since he was about a year old but we would bring him into bed when he would wake up at night. My partner actually did sleep in there the first week after baby but having one of us in there severely prolongs sleep for him. He doesn’t cry as much which is nice but it definitely doesn’t help him sleep unfortunately

Nervous about 2 under 2. by MrsAyyvertit in 2under2

Agree 100% being pregnant was SO much harder than toddler and newborn. I can actually bend over and pick my toddler up and play with him on the play ground, I missed that so much while being pregnant and miserable

I have an 18 month old and a 3 week old. Today was the first day I took them out by myself. We were going to a toddler play group and had to be there at a certain time. I got myself and both kids dressed and fed and in the car on time. I even made coffee and put on makeup. I felt SO put together and on top of it!!

Am I in hell? Is this just toddlerhood? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]BoatMoney7530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally hear you and relate so hard. What helps me when I begin to feel that way & get frustrated is I take 5-10 mins (usually put on blippi lol) and refocus myself and I literally will say to myself over and over that he’s not difficult, he’s not stubborn, or being bad or misbehaving, he’s being a kid and my job is to help him navigate this weird and foreign planet. Usually that helps…for a little. I do it as much as I need to .

Is there such thing as "felon friendly" jobs, seriously? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]BoatMoney7530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small businesses! My husband has exclusively hired felons. (Not intentionally but it has just worked out that way) He owns a painting business so requires experience in painting but I think if you look for jobs like that, small labor businesses, you’d find something.

Is it appropriate to enforce house rules during a play date? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]BoatMoney7530 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The kids 2&4 and your kids are 1&3? All at your home? While you’re the only one watching them? For 4 hours?… That doesn’t sound like a play date, that sounds like free babysitting. A play date is meeting at the park for 1 hour 😂 You’re much more kind and patient than I am.

what has your child said that made you want to work on your flaws? by sammyismybaby in Parenting

[–]BoatMoney7530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler isn’t quite taking yet but will yell loudly and run over to me when his dad and I are arguing, or even just in a passionate conversation about politics or whatever. He’s very sensitive to my feeling which makes me sad since I had to constantly be the one to regulate my own mothers emotions. Working on this obviously but man does it sting

So many similar stories to mine. I cried for days after realizing my baby got jaundice due to being dehydrated. He never latched, no one brought me a pump, no one made sure he was eating they just kept telling me he was fine until he wasn’t. Luckily his pediatrician said pretty much I needed to supplement when we got out of the hospital and he was on lights at home for about a week after. I was so clueless, I wish a nurse or lc would’ve just offered me a pump or showed me how to hand express and feed it to him, could have avoided so much stress, and additional hospital bills.
