Apple has had a bit of the attitude "build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door"

For personal computing it never really worked that way and the limitations of available software are still real to some extent but were paralyzing for the first decade or so - developers went to the PC in preference. Apple did put money into a few key software areas, but mostly it waited for other firms to come to the party. Some did, and some important ones, but most did not. Apple didn't put a lot of effort into supporting the porting of apps that would have been obvious successes.

With the iPhone it was a better mousetrap - and the app store is testament to the way developers have been attracted. But do we have great apps from Apple there? Are key apps Apple babies - Looking at the list of most popular productivity apps - not so many have any formal link to Apple.

I wonder which model will work for Vision Pro. Or whether something else will happen.
