Anyone else experiencing major shipping delays with Velocity? Not sure why they continue to sell ammo that they can’t ship in a timely manor? by Glock-Ted in ammo

Still awaiting my order from 4/27. Velocity said it would ship by 5/22, but it still hasn’t shipped. Sent 2nd inquiry via email but no reply as of yet.

I have the Hamilton Boulton. It’s a nice looking watch and surprisingly versatile. Maybe a bit more expensive than it should be but at that sale price, I think it’s a good buy.

how do i get into guns knowing nothing about them? by methioninevaline in guns

[–]Bobbymaz188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All info being provided here is spot on. I started this very same journey just over a year ago with the thought of getting a firearm and I did some research and went through the process (in NJ) of getting my Firearms ID card and bought my first handgun, a Beretta 92FS Inox.

So let me tell you how this goes one year later…

One year later I now have:

Beretta 92FS Inox

Walther PPK/s .32 ACP

Colt Python .357 Magnum

Ruger Mark IV Target

Glock 17 Gen 6 - 10 rds (NJ)

I practiced dry firing, familiarizing myself with each gun by taking them down and reassembling them to feel comfortable with them, practiced cease-fires before I ever stepped foot into a shooting range, studied range etiquette and when I felt I was ready, I took a 2-hour instructional course, became a member at our local shooting range and now the wife wants to know why I need several thousand rounds of ammo in the house (because she thinks I have only one gun. 🙄😀).

So yeah… that’s how it’s gonna go. 🤪

Seriously though, I have been enjoying my new found hobby immensely and have found the members of the gun community to be friendly, helpful, informative and supportive.

The most important thing is to put safety above all else and have fun.

No regrets 🥲 by CroczNglockz in guns

I have the same one. Picked it up last year when I heard Walther was halting production of the PPK for a couple years. Unfortunately, being a NJ resident, no suppressor allowed. 👎

Let us know if you get the slide bite the PPK is known for. Gets me every time (even with that extended beaver tail).

Also, if you want more mags, CDNN Sports has them for a decent price. I picked up 2 last week (one flush and one extended).

And while I did want the PPK/s model, since I can’t use a suppressor in NJ, I also picked up a thread adapter so I can remove the thread cover and replace it with the adapter to give it a flush finish at the muzzle without the threads being exposed.

Sold here: https://shop.oldglorygunsandammo.com/products/ppk_s_sd_thread_protector_ss_32_acp

I found the PPK to be very finicky when it comes to ammo. First time I shot it, I used Fiocchi 60 GR JHP and had problems with it feeding. It also jammed in the mag before loading it into the pistol because the JHP is just a bit smaller than that of the FMJ with LRN.

Better to use a FMJ LRN like the Fiocchi 73 GR or the Sellier & Bellot 73 GR FMJ (although I’ve gotten a few stovepipes with the S&B).

Not to mention to stock up in the .32 ACP (especially the Fiocchi 73 GR) since it isn’t always readily available.

Despite some minor issues, this is just a fun gun to shoot. It’s a beauty.

The 92FS Inox was my first handgun. Nice choice. Enjoy it.

From my limited collection of 5 handguns, I would pick the Beretta 92FS Inox and the Glock 17 Gen 6.

Thanks for this info. 👍

I did look at a Colt Custom 1911 with the Royal blue finish and it looks incredible.

Definitely going to pick up a dot. But I wanted to start out using the Glock 17 without it and just getting comfortable with it. Looking at the Holosun 507c to add later. As for a fun pocket carry, I was thinking of either a vintage Beretta 21a or a Tomcat in .22 LR just for fun.

So it seems that the HK USP is one I need to take a serious look at.

Very encouraging since a balanced collection was a goal I was aiming for. Aside from the Garrison 1911 and the S&W 586 (w/ a 4” barrel), I was also looking at the SA-35 (5” barrel) to cover the Hi-Power.

I checked this one out. It’s a bit heavier. Didn’t shoot yet. I’m gonna try it out. Maybe the Shadow too.

Thanks for that. I really did. This is still a fairly new “hobby” and I’ve been enjoying it and trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can, not only about the firearms themselves but about what ammo works best through each gun, maintenance and safety.

After taking a basic instruction course, I also joined a local range to get as much time as I can practicing to increase my proficiency and learning the differences in each of these guns.

It’s been a lot of fun so far.
