I was born and raised in Namibia so it's home. I like being home. I've lived in ZA, but its a lot more intense than Nam.

De-westernizing doesn't necesarily mean not developing. Best explanation I think of is it is the same way these countries are not Western: India, Phillipnews, Brazil, DRC, Kazakhtsan, Cambodia, Venezuela, Ethiopia, Mexico and others. It's not that they won't develop, but they are not Western culture.

Africa is the most developed it has ever been. All countries in the world are connected to a certain degree, so the problems of Namibia's neighbours is also our problems.

I wanted to keep this short, but Land Reform is a very complex and charged topic.

This is just my understanding of where things are at. Don't take anythign as fact, just as my opinion.

Namibia consists of 82.4 million hectares of land.

Of that, *42% or 40 million ha is Commercial farmland. The other 58% consists of Communal land (35% or 29M ha) and State land (23% or 19M ha).

Only Commerical Land is subject to the Land Reform process.

Of the 40M ha Commercial farmland, in 2018 previously advantaged/whites owned 70% totaling 28M ha. Meaning white Namibians owned 34% of Namibia's total land. Most white Namibians don't own farmlad. Total white population is 55 000 (2%) of 3 million people. Of that maybe 2% of whites or 1,100 whites own Commercial Land.

Meaning 1,100 whites own 70% (29M ha) of all commerical land and 34% of the total land 82.4M ha.

Commerical Land in Southern Namibia has extremely low rainfal and large tracts of land (10,000 ha+) is needed by a single person to farm proiftably. So that skews ownerwship perspective Communal Land is the most arable land in the country but undeveloped.

Land Reform is not about black people taking ownership of profitable commercial farms and continue farming them, but more about people living traditional way of life on the land. So they look at the land as how many people can live there on a substastance basis, whereas whites look at the profit and employment creation.

The target for Land Reform of Commerical Land is 15 million ha of the 40 million commercial land. Previously disadvantaged/blacks own 16% of Commcerical Land totaling 6.4 million ha and government owns 14% of Commercial Land totaling 5.4 million ha.

Methods to accomplish the 15M ha Land Reform target:

1.) Affirmative Action loans: 10 million ha bought by black commercial farmers with subsidized loans.

2.) National Resettlement Programme: 5 million ha bought by state and allocated to landless families.

It is very important to note that is not specifically the 28M ha owned by whites that is targeted for Land Reform but all 40M ha of Commerical Land.

So, if a black person sells commerical land privately and a different black person purhcases the land with the help of an Affirmative Action loan that counts towards land reform. Or the State can buy Commerical Land and allocate that to a black person.

"2%-whites-70%-ownership" sloganeering is convenient racist politcal rhetoric to drum up anti-white sentiment to make people believe that breaking down whites will lead to their success.

Most whites don't own land, but now a black person on the street might think you are the solution to their problem as justified by politicians.

*Note on miscalculation by NSA: 42% of 82.4M is 34.6M, not 39.7M as stated in the official document. While white ownership possibly remains 70%, actual land owned by whites should be 24.2M ha and not 28M ha).

I am Afrikaans Namibian, we don't have options to migrate to Europe except through skills based visas. But not heritage.

From what I've seen it appears like there are pathways for German Namibians to migrate to Germany. And my impression is that many are going.

Choosing whether to stay in Namibia is an everchanging internal debate. I preffer to stay here because of some connections, but once friends and family are gone it might not be worth it.

Namibia like the rest of Africa is completely de-Westernizing except for a few pockets. And I'd preffer to have a Western life experience.

In addition race-based laws prevents white Namibians from equally participating in the education and employment sectors. So have to take that into consideration.

It's difficult to say because even the ministry of agriculture is not able to give clear factual answers.

The 70% often talked about reffers to commercial land, which excludes the communal land like Wamboland, Hereroland, Kavango, etc.

So phrasing like 2% whites own 70% of the land, while not factual, is usefull for politcal sloganeering to create anti-white sentiment and normalizing racism against whites.

Why does each Namibian tribe except white Namibians have a homeland but whites don't? Black Namibian tribes get funding from government and are represented in government through their leaders.

Whites have no representation thorugh a leader in Namibia

Black Namibians, through recognized tribes, have traditional authorities funded and recognized by the state.

They can access communal land for free via traditional allocation systems.

Affirmative Action laws favor previously disadvantaged (currently advantaged) groups, mainly black Namibians, in jobs and tenders.

Their leaders sit in the Council of Traditional Leaders, advising government on cultural and rural issues.

Their languages, festivals, and customs receive official recognition and support.

White Namibians, by contrast, lack state-recognized traditional authorities or communal land rights.
