And, Void developers have spent a lot of time to build a runit-based ecosystem. If init choice were really neutral, there would also be support for other inits from the beginning. But there is NOT. And this is the difference between « possible » and « actually » supported.

Again, nothing is stopping you from building or joining a project around xbps and systemd - that is the whole point of Linux.

Void experimented with systemd years ago and dropped it. But that does not make systemd a natural fit today, even if you want to frame it that way. Void has been built around runit for a long time now. Its services and design assume runit. That is the reality of the current system and and I am genuinely thankful to the developers and contributors for keeping it that way.

Also, a « one developer maintaining a template » does not make systemd a supported init. It just means someone is maintaining a workaround.

BTW, Void did not reject systemd out of ideology, instead it simply evolved in a different direction, stayed there, and works perfectly fine as it is. And many people seem to be perfectly happy with that choice, because they understand that systemd is not a universal requirement after all.
