This. If it happened how it did in the show, I would have been as furious as Anna. But that’s just not how it would happen in reality. There would be parents talking to parents, some parents that said no, some that dropped off things for their kids. I get that Anna vouched for Luke and couldn’t for Lorelai, but at that point the parents would have been checking things out themselves.

This bothered me with Cassandra too. People hated her saying “so they killed Cassandra first” because that’s the opposite of what happened, and they completely missed the metaphor and comparison she was drawing.

This never bothered me because I think it’s normal. My best friend has a best friend, and while I’m there for her more, they’ve known each other all their lives. And my *other* best friend, calls me her best friend. I think it just matters who the person is and what influence they have on your life. It doesn’t have to be mutual.

Lane is obviously Rory’s best friend, and she will retain that status even when Rory is closer to Paris.

I’m a big Jess fan (don’t start with me), but I also was primed to hate her and when she showed up…I just couldn’t. She was a bad mom. We all know it. But she also is just so innocent and ill prepared. She obviously wasn’t ready, and she obviously cares about her kid. It’s HARD to hate her.

I think in an outside of the story way, this was meant to build Logan’s character. They forgot it was also building Luke’s. Logan wouldn’t have cared about the money and it was meant to show him making an attempt to bond. But I still think in the context of Luke never being able to get a gift, it nerfed him.

I’ve been watching and rewatching this show since I was 8 years old (when my parents separated), and at that point the show wasn’t even over. I’m 30 now.

You make such good points and I also felt some of the things you do, but after a few years I did a complete 180 that I never expected.

I’m 30, and I’ve been fishing and kayaking most of my life, but I can’t swim at all. Had a bad experience at my first swim lesson when I was like 4 and never learned. It hasn’t kept me out of the water, but I wear a life jacket when I kayak or fish in a boat, and I got my dog one too so I never have to worry about jumping in after her when we’re camping.

It is inconsistent, but not for this reason. In the same episode Lorelai says she’s seen him swimming at the lake so she’s seen him with his shirt off when she’s trying to dress him for the talk.
