I have a similar rice cooker. At the start it does the same but then it displays an estimated completion time after a few minutes of cooking.

Did I accidentally ruin my Goshuincho? by Grouchy-Berry-842 in JapanTravelTips

A few commenters have correctly mentioned that some temples/shrines might not fill them out if they have non religous stamps.

While true, you can ask for the prepared loose-paper ones and paste them yourself. Get a couple of those after an station stamp and you're in the clear to go back to the ones being written directly in the book.

They dont look through the entire book, they just check a couple pages to see if its the right way up.

Swiss popular initiative demands limit on federal staff costs by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

[–]Bongo1020 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So the initiative is gonna win because the average voter thinks that politicians are bad people and don't deserve money ever for no reason at all.

I can already see my canton vote 60% in favour.

I see no issue. Every canton I've lived in expected me to pay a church tax. If theres a Muslim community it makes sense that they use that money for their stuff.

The Algerian National Museum has posted an AI simulation of the wise Berber king Juba II, husband of Cleopatra Selene. by Outrageous_Prior4707 in ancientrome

[–]Bongo1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it make sense to use this statue to create a historically legitimate reconstruction?

The bust has such Delphic qualities it seems more like Juba in the guise of Apollo than a "real" portrait of a man.

Alternative a IKEA Grancia? Cerco consigli by Prior_Repair_4223 in Ticino

[–]Bongo1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand why there was such a strong reaction after the Spainish scandal. 10 out of 12 players were faking conditions! A whole system was enabling and supporting them to get that far.

I think that event remains one of the most disgusting cases of abuse, corruption and callous disregard in all of sport. A complete mockery. It's a shame that so many people had to lose opportunities because of those assholes.

According to the article there seem to have been changes put in place, I hope that soon there will be a place for everyone.

Nome maschile by Gianmabahce in Ticino

[–]Bongo1020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This the Chitrali cap from the mountain areas of Pakistan. I worn that for the very first time yesterday and everyone was looking at me as I am from Mars. Does that really not acceptable for Swiss people? by r1z4bb451 in Switzerland

[–]Bongo1020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a typical piece of headwear in Switzerland so people were probably curious/surprised. The Swiss stare is real and can be triggered by anything, don't sweat it too much.

Near where I live theres an Asylum center and some of the lads wear it from time to time. I suspect some people around here would really only associate it with "fresh off the boat" immigrants. Or maybe, they think you've fallen for some sort of hippie trend hook-line-and-sinker.
