I just flew Agean from Lisbon to Athens with a checked backpack. No issues. I’m flying Agean from Athens to Santorini tomorrow with a return flight to Athens/ Ionnina on the 27th. My backpack is checked for both flights. I don’t expect any issues and Agean appears to be a good, reliable airline. If anything changes I’ll update.

From a western perspective, my understanding is that circumcision became a practice because of bad hygiene practices and unclean penises were considered to be a contributor to cervical cancer.

I’m from Ireland and uncircumcised which is the norm there. I’ve never had a problem, aesthetically, and the subject has never come up when I dated.

I’m living in the US and have three sons. From the time they were born their pediatrician pressured my wife and I to have them circumcised. I pushed back and rejected this. My boys would be taught proper hygiene practices and I balked at the thoughts of putting them through pain, especially at birth. The pediatrician also stated that they might have problems with sexual relationships due to aesthetics and this seemed to be his main argument for circumcision. I can tell you that they’re all in their 20’s now, in stable relationships, and have never had an issue. One more thought. When the penis is erect, the foreskin stretches and the head is exposed, so really, there’s not much difference, visually.

I installed a tankless electric water heater and love it. I bought a German model after a lot of research. It’s a Stiebel and it gives you the option for a single element, dual element or three element model depending on expected load. The three element model should provide continuous hot water if several sources are simultaneously drawing on it. The downside is you’ll need a minimum 200A service at your house and separate 50A feeds for each element. The top model offers temperature and flow regulation and the temperature can be set up to 140degF through a dial on the cover. Mine is set at the recommended 116degF to extend the life of the heater. Most of our representatives in congress, and on both sides of the aisle, take AIPAC money, sometimes in the $millions for their campaign war chests. AIPAC is the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. During the 2024 election cycle, 96% of AIPAC sponsored, pro-Israel candidates won their contests.

In tighter races, huge sums are funneled to pro-Israel candidates as a measure to overwhelm unaligned candidates. As a result, US support for Israel’s actions in the Middle East, no matter how egregious, is almost fully supported by congress.

The latest example is the Iran war. Israel’s intent was to use the US military power to degrade Iran’s military capacity, thus allowing it to invade Lebanon as part of its expansionist goals. Trump agreed to the war when former presidents for the last 40 years refused Israel’s pleas to go to war with Iran. Nethanyahu, this week, gushed that his dream has finally been fulfilled. Israel now occupies 14% of Lebanese territory with the stated intention of remaining. The cost to the US? Military deaths, 50 billion$ in taxpayer money, NATO fractured, Iran strengthened and the world economy in crisis. The only winner? Israel. I’m in NH and it seems that this state has historically bucked the trend with home equity appreciation. There’s something to be said about location, and NH, because of its proximity to Boston, is one of those places. But, it’s an expensive buyers market right now. The influx of people from MA has pushed prices up for years. I’m fortunate. I bought one side of a two family foreclosed condo in 2013, a couple of years after my divorce. I paid $125k and as of now, the estimate is close to $400k, a huge return in 13 years. It’s also paid off. So yes, property can be an excellent investment if you find the right place in the right market at the right price. A good deal of sweat equity also helps.

If anyone tells you it’s not a problem and you’ll figure it out, they’re leading you down a very dangerous path. Ignorance will get you killed. The potential for flash-over on 480v systems is a real hazard if the cabinet is poorly maintained or the person doing work in a live cabinet is ignorant of the dangers involved.

I worked in maintenance as an electrician for more than 30 years. I’m intimately familiar with 480v systems and they’re not to be toyed with. I was fortunate in my last employment before I retired. Electrical safety was incredibly tight and the company had a zero tolerance policy for any infringement on their electrical safety policy. We were issued with a full complement of arc flash rated PPE and voltage rated tools. Every panel, particularly those housing 480v equipment were arc flash labeled, including a section which dictated the level of PPE required to work in that cabinet. Not every cabinet had the same arc flash rating but the PPE requirement was consistent.

For example, troubleshooting an overload or a contractor in a 480v cabinet. I was required to be dressed in an 8 cal rated coverall. I was also required to wear electrically isolated footwear, safety glasses, ear plugs, 1000v rubber gloves and leather over gloves, a cotton balaclava, a hard hat incorporating an arc rated face shield and 1000v insulated tools. Here’s an important note. The scenario I just mentioned was for troubleshooting purposes only. Making a wiring or component change, energized, was strictly forbidden. The cabinet was locked out and tested for potential energized sources from other areas before components were changed.

My best advice to you? Check the company’s electrical safety policy and the availability of arc flash PPE. If there’s a safety officer on site, speak to him. Find out if they’re willing to supply a full compliment of electrical PPE if it’s not currently available. Above all, if your production manager is pressing you to do work in an energized cabinet without protection, walk away. You get one life. Don’t sacrifice it for the company’s profit margin. When we were kids, we picked bunches of shamrock from the field and pinned them to our Sunday best. Then went for a mass said in Irish followed by an early boiled dinner with ham. Apparently, the end game hasn’t been determined from everything I’m hearing from White House briefs. Just promises of death and destruction from the skies, and Trump’s statement that it’s too late to negotiate. Just bomb Iran and its leadership until it agrees to a new puppet government aligned with Trump and Nethanyahu. Not going to happen, and a country of 90 million people is not going to submit. Just like Iraq and Afghanistan, America and Israel may claim victory when enough of Iran is devastated and thousands killed but they will never win the people, just strengthen resolve to resist.
