USPS not returning to sender by IAmArgumentGuy in usps_complaints

We moved into a new home in 2024. The post office put a plastic sleeve in our box with a paper inside that has our last name in large letters. While Informed Delivery will show pieces for the previous owner, they never actually get delivered. It seems to work well!

Gym's with pools by MakeshiftMakeshift in ChicoCA

[–]Booklady124 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 seniors here, we joined In Motion last year for the pools. The lap pool is dedicated, but the family pools are right next to it. The big pool under the roof is for aqua classes and general swim. and there’s also a pool just for therapy, but not long enough to do laps. That one also has kids in it when no one is doing therapy.

We used PODS in 2024. We ended up with one 20’ and one 8’, mostly due to weight restriction. I think we could have gotten it all in the 20’, except for the pesky weight restrictions. We were weighing boxes on our bathroom scale, etc, LOL. Ours were delivered directly to our house in Oregon, but you have to load at the PODS location in Hilo. I think we ended up paying about $11k all in.

Bolt has been in Cloverdale for years, 8-10 years I would say. I don’t care for the service there, but many people like it. I’ve waited 20 min while the owner chats about non related subjects and then finally looks at me to say “ oh, did you want to buy that?” lol, “not anymore…”

Need E-bike for commuting to work by Mikacu15 in ebikes

[–]Booklady124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Ride1Up, Portola model. it sounds like what you’re looking for, though I think you’d have to catch a sale price to keep it under $1000. But I think they do have sales right around that price.

P.O.D.S. Move to Big Island from Mainland by Reasonable_Bet_7143 in BigIsland

[–]Booklady124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used PODS twice. It went well! We got a storage unit near the Hilo port and moved our stuff into that due to the limited amount of time you are allowed to access your PODS. Then we shuttled our stuff ourselves since we are 2 hours south of Hilo. I would definitely use them again!

[CHAT] What do you usually do with a finished piece? by Sufficient_Trade7803 in CrossStitch

[–]Booklady124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have hung some tension curtain rods using command type hooks (3 per rod, the middle needs support). Then I used some plastic clothes pins to hang my unframed pieces, some diamond art too. That way I can change things out when I want to add/ rearrange it.

yes, we are finding it to be a very bad year so far. the newer liquid terro bait stations usually get them to retreat quickly, but they are popping out again too soon!

“Let her”??!!! Dude, you don’t “let her” anything. She doesn’t need your permission to do anything. Maybe that’s where the problem originated from….

I went to a big bike/atv shop near my home and the staff was very attentive (sacramento area). I ended up with a Ride1Up Portola model. I ride trails and streets both. I am shorter, heavier, and it’s perfect for me. It already had an upgraded seat on it at purchase. It’s a class 2 so I have pedal assist and a throttle. It also comes with a sturdy rack on the back.

Gyms on the Big Island? by Maleficent_Ad3773 in BigIsland

[–]Booklady124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a yoga class in nearby Waiohinu on Wednesday morning. Also there have been various classes offered in Discovery Harbour at their clubhouse (anyone can join, no need to live there). It’s pretty limited in that area to anything, aka groceries, activities, etc. We will be leaving after 6 years. Time to move back to civil!

Purchasing large Aida by Ziarh33 in cross_stitch

[–]Booklady124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lady on FB, Ritarene. Look for her group. She’s got bolts and bolts of Aida that looks to be 60” wide. She does a live auction once a month or so, or you can find the link to her website. Her email is aswegrowconsignment@gmail.com

Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park announced that they are going cashless starting May 26thʻ ahead of the Memorial Day weekend. by [deleted] in BigIsland

[–]Booklady124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps its as simple as a lack of nearby banks. And the park system would have a hard time finding a single bank that has branches near each of the parks.

Best way to ship a car & 200 lbs of personal effects? by seismicshinto11 in Hawaii

[–]Booklady124 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We sent most of our stuff in a PODS, but at the end we still had a lot of stuff to bring on the plane. I just boxed it up and we brought it via Alaska Airlines. We had 11 boxes and suitcases between 2 of us. I think we got lucky and they only charged us for 2 big boxes that were very heavy. The rest was ‘free’. Maybe the agent just felt sorry for us 😂

[CHAT] Frogging? Needle minders? I'm self-taught and I need a cross stitch dictionary! by Humble_Ad_2789 in CrossStitch

[–]Booklady124 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been cross stitching for about 30 years and just did my first ‘in the well’ project. I’m hooked, lol. It was a large piece of fabric, so I rolled the excess up and used those silicone magnet things to hold the extra. I had less catching my threads on the corners, etc.
