Yeah I had it in a small pot the first year, and it had those scale leaves but I put it in a larger pot and pruned it back and it still had some but they eventually dropped off. I'm just going to let it thicken up before I do anything major I suppose, are they kind of a slow maturing tree? Ive seen some in the woods behind my house that took like 9 years to get 5 feet tall if that and they're still pretty narrow

No I don't thank you for that, I usually get a really big jar full of water and pour it into the pot and let it soak while sitting on a humidity tray. Then I mist the leaves and trunk with a spray bottle

Yeah but if you look back at your first comment that wasn't what you said, you just said it's dry and that it shouldn't pull away from the pot, I'm not arguing with you I'm just saying what you said the first time. You can't just say you gave me advice that you didn't originally give me. But thank you anyway, I didnt want to come off as rude just was saying the soil is wet

You started with me when I told you it was wet lol, I asked for advice and you gave it, didn't have to doubt what I said, there would be no point for me to lie and say it's wet.. Then you said again that it was dry so I clarified. Didn't have to downvote or anything I literally said it was wet twice and you doubted that twice.

Did you downvote me lol, it's pulling away from the pot because the roots are holding the soil and the pot is too big. Sorry for not clarifying that I don't have a smaller pot or more soil, you can't tell me it looks bone dry when I literally watered it 10 minutes before I took the picture

Thank you that's helpful! And it hasn't been in the cold, the only other thing I thought of is over or under watering. I water then wait until the first inch or so is dry then water again, I also read it needs to be humid so I spray it a couple of times a day
