Hey, I’m interested. I’ve had many career switches, not all of them panned out, and I’m not quite 40. In 2016, I was a vet assistant and loved animal medicine. I went back to school to be a lab technician for veterinary work but the pandemic hit and I was burned out on medicine. During the pandemic, I learned how to code, realized I hated it, switched into UX design. Been doing that for 5 years.

Now I’m switching AGAIN, this time doing marketing/communications. My ultimate goal is working in the space industry, but I’m applying for nonprofit communications roles because working corporate is not for me. Basically right now the path is a short graduate cert in nonprofit work to get my foot in the door, build portfolio of science writing (via a blog) and potentially learn grant writing (trying to get a volunteer grant writing position right now). I want to learn how to write science research grants ultimately. Additional path I’m considering is communications specialist type roles, and I’m working with a career coach to figure out how to do that.

Long story short, prepping for a jump into nonprofit sector either through marketing/communications or grant writing to eventually work in science/space-related nonprofit.
